could be the combination of 184TDi and DSG. having a manual it's easy to get a smooth power delivery, but if I floor it I do get quite a response!
I had 17s fitted instead of 18s for a smoother ride anyway.
I also cover about 10k miles a year, and next time I may well go for the 1.4 ACT 150, purely because the idea of a clogging DPF worries me...
thank, and hope it gets better for you.
PS - roads here aren't good either!

No point quoting figures from the dash, it lies big time (like most cars).

My 1.4 TSi 140 normally indicates an average of 50 mpg but the spreadsheet over almost 3 years says 45 mpg, that's a 10% lie.

On a 120 mile coast trip it said 58 mpg but I doubt it was any better than 52 mpg.

Once in Derbyshire we were parked fairly high up on the peak and when we drove into Bakewell from a reset dash it said over 100 mpg.

What a load of bollocks.

Tank to tank fill up figures are the only ones worth quoting

I normally get between 50 and 55 in my 184 DSG but most of my travel is peak time motorway which isn't helping. Have managed to get 60 once or twice, but not the regular 65 that I used to get on my old pd140. Way more fun though...

According to the trip computer I have a lifetime of 61mpg average. I get 620 from a tank most weeks but this drops to 500 miles on city only driving.

Been keeping 'real' figures since purchase when new. Started off at 48mpg and now, after 8K miles, edging just over 50. Don't know how you 60-70mpg guys do it. Will be interested to see what difference my new DTUK box makes. Only direct comparison so far is a particular 20 mile journey, where I would get about 52mpg on the dash; two such trips post-DTUK both over 60mpg on the dash. Interesting!

ST184 manual, mainly round town driving, heavy ish right boot getting 35mpg....well I bought it to drive it, if I wanted better mpg I'd have bought a push bike!

I'd like to see your real world figures with the box. It seems that because of how the box works it makes the dash think it's using less fuel when in reality its using more.

Thanks for cheering me up!

But I will post some figures when I have two or three tanks under my belt.

Quite a few have posted on other threads that their miles to a full tank has gone up since fitting the DTUK box.
You can't dispute an average 50 miles to a tank increase as real world figures.
