does anybody know when your average MPG resets itself,

i know you have 2 memory banks (1,and 2 lol) 2 seems to keep working out the averages but 1 seems to reset at some crazy times, sometimes when i fill up with petrol some times it doesnt, also when i start the car again the day after sometimes it has reset, however it doesnt. it doesnt seem consistent.

could anybody enlighten me on this because its starting to annoy me haha

As far as i can tell...
1. resets itself for each journey, i suspect it holds its memeory for an alloted period of time then clears itself, so if you just nip into the supermarket it won't have reset when you get back.
2. has to be manually reset

1. resets ether: a when you reset it
or B if your ignition is off for more than 2 hours
2. resets when you reset it

exacly same as the mk4 (apart from a better looking screen lol)

i thought that 2 resets itself every so often when its counters reach there max so you have done a very large number of miles or use so many gallons of fuel and things like that. I think i read that somewhere in the manual when i first got the car. am i wrong??

it may well do, but i always reset 2 after i fill up so i know how much mpg i averaged on last tank, 1 i dont reset it does it its self.

plus my cars only done 976miles in my FR lol
