Mufflerectomy

Right, I know people are going to reply to this with 'use the search button' etc, but i'm in work and would like a bit of help please lol.

I've been reading on here about having mufflerectomy and I want it done on my Leon.
I've rang 2 places now and both quotes have been around the £300 mark.

I want to know if i'm asking for the correct thing as some people have been paying around £100 - 150 for having it done.

I asked for a pipe from the cat-back replacing both boxes with an 5x3 oval tail end. Does this seem right?

When I saw how much some people had paid I was all for having it done, but these prices have changed my mind slightly.

My car is a Leon FR TDI PD150.

Thanks in advance.

Think its fitting a straight through exhaust, ie no Cat or back boxx, hence giving you a nice purrrr on a petrol, or a horrible tractor sound on a diesel, besides you wont be able to hear the wonderful sound of your turbo whistling away.

Good points there lol. I think I was just after a bit more noise and the oval tail pipe like the LCR. Something to think about anyway isn't it.
Prob be better off buying a set of ARB's by the look of it.

Thanks a lot for the replies

Your your own person but personally the TDI150 / FR is such a nice car, why try and make it look like a LCR? Why spend 12k on a car that you wish was something else? Just my opinion mate.

Now, ARB's, thats another thing, yes, yes, yes!!

Well it's the FR+ so it looks almost like a LCR, so I thought the oval pipe would set it off nicely. I've colour coded the mirrors and I reckon it's just the tail pipe that needs doing. Bit picky i suppose. I see your point tho. Couldn't afford to run an LCR, whic is why I went for the diesel btw.
Good point with just the tail pipe, and it looks like ARB's are the btter option.
Thanks again
