me again!

1.4 Seat Ibiza is munching fuel!

I run an MR2 turbo and its alot worse.

It has a big pancake style pipercross induction kit and an ecotec valve in it which we have never touched.

Any ideas as to what the valve does and it could it be why the cars drinking fuel?

whats best to check first?

I'd say the pipercross filter sucking hot air in, and the ecotec valve.

replace the filter with the OE airbox, and the ecotec valve with a piece of straight pipe. with no holes in it.

and it'll be much better.

oh..

so is it normal to use that much fuel in a 1.4 seat?

my 1.4 did 17mpg when I was done with it.

was nippy enough, but certainly not worth doubling my fuel bill for.

std stuff strangles it, but at least you don't need to stop for a tank every 200 miles

Driving fairly conservatively I can get about 90 miles out of a tenner if thats anything to go by

Jeez that shows how much petrol has gone up in the past 8 years, I used to get 110 miles out of a tenner thrashing the pant's out of my 1.6 205 Gti I know it's lightweight but that's still a hell of a difference!

I remember paying £0.73p a litre about 3 years ago. Back then out of a tenner i used to get about 100 miles thrashing the 1.4 beeza.

I've read its worth cleaning your MAF sensor because when thats dirty or is on its way out, you do really bad MPG. There is a guide on here somewhere. Something along the lines of dipping the sensor in alcohol or something along those lines.

i recon my gti is on par with fuel with my previous 1.4

You need to give the lower engines more of a kick to get anywhere, the cuprasport doesnt need so much persuasion, perhaps its time to get yourself a bigger engine, less strainin kicking its hole in that way ;)

As everyone has suggested, bein the aftermarket air filter, and ecotek valve.

Petrol consumption shouldn't be that bad from a standard 1.4.

Have you checked the tyres are inflated correctly?, no silly big wing on the back or added weight?

Your mr2 is nice and so are your model's ;)
