will get a pic up when I get a chance mate. Good news, got my K&N kit on today, though the cold air pipe is a bit short, so gonna have to source a new one, sounds bloody great though, you can feel it 2000rpm and up on full chat! Also went over to Camrons to get a quote on a back box...looking good. Oh and fixed my radio! Productive day!

sounds good to me mate bought a sunstrip from halfords today but it looks awful!

not anything like i expected!

and mate i would love to hear your engine some time! will need to arrange a mini york meet - theres a few lads from around here.

and if u fancy going to bigger meets i would love to go as a convoy with ya so just let me know.

and one more thing: will an air filter make the car sound better, which would i need and how easy to fit are they.

Thanks mate

yeah sunstrips are tricky, not to mention a bit iffy with the law, gonna have to trim mine quite a bit, and just ordered some Aeroblades so will trim them down a bit to make it legal.

Yeah sounds sweet, be even better when it breathes through a decent back box. Induction kit is an easy job really, just took me while to get my head around it, as it's a Polo kit, so the instuctions don't really work too well, and the cold airflow pipes too short like I say. If you get stuck I'd be happy to explain. Worth the money though, but get a decent one.

Umming and arring about getting my wheels refurbed in white... I like the sport 16inch that it has, just think white would make it stand out a bit more.

I think the louder the car is the safer it is, drove through the city centre late last night, idiots who walk in front of you.... they can't say they didn't hear the car now! The only thing louder is my head unit...... best money I ever spent that beauty!lol

Yeah insurance is always a killer, especially at your age, thats why most people don't declare it, but can't blame your mum!lol

Yeah Halfords were always very overpriced, I know what they bought stuff in for when I worked there, they make a fortune out of modders, even though the gear is pretty poor in many cases, that said, it's better than a lot of the crap Camerons are selling, anyone who fits blue pedals should be shot....

I'd spend a bit more and go for the full induction kit rather than those you see in Argos.... trust me, they are worth every penny for a K&N!

Not heard about the tint place, that said, tints are a law magnet round here from what I hear! Though that goes for anything non standard, they used to tail me when I had my Escort!

that place is just off the new roundabout near monks x - the one with all the light.
if you go onto a64 heading towards malton its opposite the first pub.

but yer im impressed with the finish and that. next on list is a sun strip and adding sickers. after that going to debadge and take off back wiper then a rest until i magic some money out of somewhere.

but yer not a bad day - got my tints and now just chilling at gfs.

that one really shows the difference on how the back looks to the front but i still think its looks pretty nice

so that was all good but then had a big problem with the car

broke down on the way to my induction at my new job! about 8.40am Saturday Morning. Carmen was going fine and as usual when i had to stop at traffic lights. when the turned to green i stalled it and thought nothing more until i turned engine back on!

Carmen was vibrating wildly and i felt a real loss of power. also engine management light came on dash board. i kept going to get to the induction being careful not to go to fast or having revs to high.

After the induction (5pm and i was meant to be at my other job at 6pm!!!) i called AA out cos im a member and the guy showed me and explained what was wrong - i even got to help haha :D.

Aparently the 3rd cylinder where the spark plugs go into (this might not be correct just remembering what he said) had blown and the car was only running on 2 so hence loss of power. he had it sorted and cleared the code in 20 mins but it cost me £45 - basically all the money i earned that day lol and a lot of worry.

he also told me to get spark plugs changed as if it happens to one it will probs happen to other 2.

so that was fun.

anyway shes back wrking now and basically im happy with tints haha :D

always fun with Carmen!

Looking nice ! I have a 1.2 S as my first car as well. Still saving for my alloys before i do anything else because i will look like an idiot if i start putting backboxes and lowering it with standard wheels on lol. I'm thinking of going with 16"'s if i can find any! They seem rare.

Looks like it's coming along a treat! I had a 1.2 to start with too, my insurance wasn't quite that high, 1.6k in fact with Tesco.

+1 for having the best colour!!

You're almost right with the engine problem. It would of been the coilpack that failed and replaced.

Air filter wise, the 1.2's "airbox" is actually the engine cover. You can put a panel filter in, personally recommend Green Filter, but you can't really drill it as it would draw hot air straight off the top of the engine. You can however smooth all the fins etc out to improve flow. That is the cost effective way. Otherwise you can go for an "induction kit". Of which you can go for an open cone (like flegz suggested) coupled with a silicon elbow or an enclose filter like BMC CDA or Forge's carbon filter.

dont think ill bother with the air filter tbh!

thinkin of just getting a big exhaust and slyly not telling mother haha so she dont go wild about insurance.

but i dont know yet.

i really want it lowering but cash is tight as well as insurance not appreciating it!

anyway thanks guys for helpful posts and yer i wouldnt have got it if wasnt black.

i actually set out looking for an 03ish new shape fiesta but ending up with this baby.

suddenly realising how much things actually cost though! ahh well the fun of driving i suppose!

anyway thanks again

Looking good mate, making me tempted to get tints now!

Pop round to Camerons, they are going to do me a custom back box as you can't get off the peg jobs for the Ibiza it seems with out welding etc, for about £160-£180....well they are when I come up with the ££££

Agree with the lowering, best thing you can do ,I did it with my Escort, stopped it looking like a 4x4!

Well, its my MOT tomoz...eek, then I can crack on with the sunstrip finally, and got this gaitor to fit, oh and looking at some pedal covers on ebay at the mo.

Its funny we've still not passed eachother, I know most of the places your taking pics!lol

Hope shes running better now, theres nothing as scary as the first time your car fails! I remember driving my first Astra to work one day, and just as I pulled in it erupted in a cloud of steam (bloody good thing I WAS working at Halfords that time)lol.

Well, good things will come mate, we all have to save, I'm :censored: that I can't do everything to mine in one go, and that it still looks standard really! Gonna get some pics up this week hopefully..before the snow hits. Will get it down to Leeman Road handwash tomoz!:D
