Picked this up a few weeks ago. Finally got around to giving it a proper clean. Around 24k miles, looked ok on the surface, I could see a lot of tar but you never really know a car until you give it a proper clean. Started with the wheels of and clean out the wheel arches. Gave the calipers a new coat of paint and also did the rusty bits of the discs. Nobody likes to see tatty brakes! If you are considering removing the wheel arch linings to clean behind, please do. After 24k miles I was amazed at what I found behind.

The overspill of paint on the discs soon comes off once driven a few hundred yards. there is a lack of close up pics of the wheels as I'm not happy with the paint and they will be getting re-painted shortly.

Full machine polish next along with under bonnet and all door shuts. Interior already steam cleaned and polished but nothing really to see out of the ordinary.

Washed and ready for bodywork deep clean, much more contamination than can be seen on the pics (they are only re-sized phone pics):

Finally finished. I reckon I spent 80 hours getting it to this stage. Paint still has a few swirls and the odd blemish but being white it hides them well. As I haven't got a paint depth gauge I didn't want to go too mad with the polisher plus with the sharp angle changes of the Ibiza panels you have to be careful on the edges that you don't take too much off. anyway here is the finished article:

The polisher is a porter cable random orbital. But that is only really because I bought it before home detailing really took off and I had to import it from the US. Lots of others available and they all use the same pads. I don't trust myself with a rotary, plus I don't do it often enough to warrant one. If I did go into business it would be a must.

As for products, it's always a personal choice. I would get onto detailing world and read some reviews. But as u asked I didn't buy anything special and just used what I already had. Wheel arches, under bonnet and door shuts cleaned with meguiars degreaser. I clayed it with auto finesse clay which i bought for my old car. It was too fine for this really as i had to repeat it and use lots of tar and fallout remover to get it properly clean. polish is various grades of menzerna. Where I needed a cleaner wax I used auto finesse tripple otherwise it was a meguiars glaze and everywhere topped off with collinite wax. The wax I use for longevity, but it looks pretty good also. Oh and for the first time i did give it a alcohol wipe after the polishing to clean off any residue. The Ibiza is my daily, and after doing all this work it is only likely to get washed once a month, but it does get re-waxed every 3 washes.
