Well my bad luck continues ....
Spent ages getting my wheels ready for paint, they were finally painted Wednesday evening, Thursday evening they were cleaned, sealed and 120 new titanium split rim bolts fitted and torqued up (5hrs!) only to take them to the tyre centre today where they marked all 4 wheels with a tyre lever .... To say I'm pi##ed off is a major understatement!!

unfortunately my friend loaded them into his van whilst I went in to pay and we didn't notice until we were a mile down the road unloading them at the workshop. By the time we had drove back they had locked up and gone home
Anyway I think it's time to put some wheel pics up. Some of you may have seen these wheels before, they were realised in a very limited number in 2001 to celebrate something to do with touring cars (I think) I've never seen another set bar a couple of old internet pics.
So here they are. 19" Forged, centre lock 2 piece split rims ... So now you can see why I'm having so many problems trying to get the brakes to fit, not only do the brakes hit the ball joints they also hit the wheels despite a lot of machining and 4 attempts at fitting .... I'm still not giving up I'm determined to get them to fit.
Wheel face prepped and primed
Caliper brackets designed, machined and mocked up on a Cupra hub
After a few nights of redesigning and machining this setup actually allowed me to fit the brakes with minimal clearance ....... Until another member pointed out the Cupra r hub had the ball joint 1.5" lower. A test fit confirmed they did not fit on the car and lots of swearing was done

the
problem was I had purposely used a brake bell with a 20mm offset to allow maximum clearance between caliper and mating lip/face of the wheel so the only way to fit the discs was to have some custom bells machined up with a 1mm offset, this obviously meant the caliper would come forward 19mm then it is in the pic above ... Ummm no room for that
At this point I kind of gave up on the brakes and concentrated on getting the wheels painted seeing as custom bells came in at between £375-450! A hell of a lot of money for something that physically would not fit.
Basecoat
Lacquered.
Excuse the rubbish phone pics there actually a real high power gunmetal metallic pearl.
The faces were then sanded flat before they were sealed and bolted together with new titanium bolts ... At this point a little bit of magic together with some clever machining resulted in this.
The caliper is still touching despite a lot of work and this is far from final as it's not been tested on the car yet but there is a small chance I will be able to get this set up to work. Fingers are firmly crossed
So that's it really ..
