Lovely looking car Mick.

Alloys look great as they are or maybe slightly darker, not a fan of black alloys as they tend to make the tyre look grey.

Cheers mate, yeh alloys are a bit dirty in the photo but think I will just get them refurbed a slightly darker shade than they are. Thanks for advice :)

Getting sick of using cd's so got my self a Kenwood Headunit so I can now listen to my iPod on the go!

Took no time swapping the old Aura unit out, it came out far to easily for my liking :p

Took a quick photo of it, only other stuff is washing all the salt off it today. Suspension seems to have settled a little bit over the week. Took some photos whilst helping my mate get his vr6 Corrado back to working order.

Welcome along mate :)

Cracking example you've got yourself there! Looks mint in the pics and great for the recent cleans. I run AP coilovers myself, quite a bit lower but the ride is pretty good and they've been faultless in almost 3 years on my LCR. I pushed mine on track last year at Brands and they did their job well!

Will be keeping my eye on your thread to see how you come along. You seem like someone who will get stuck into the car as time goes on! There's quite a few of us like this in the MK1 section who just can't help ourselves with mods!

Towards the end of last year I was starting to think mine was almost finished. How wrong was I.....

If you go down the remap route you will not believe the difference it makes. Totally transforms it!

Cheers bud, I'm well impressed with the ap's, they felt bit rough at first but now they are smooth, thinking I might drop her a bit more on the front , how low is yours?

Yeh I'm just taking my time with it, don't want to rush it :) wanting to get it looking good, need to get rid of some small scratches I've found and maybe refurb alloys, then was thinking about the power options, what remap would you advise going for?

I'm not sure how low it is exactly. I can't remember off the top of my head but I'll measure it again soon. Maybe tomorrow as I plan to clean it...

It used to be this low at the front

It's a few mm higher now. Not much, but enough for it to stop slightly scraping on the driveway as I get off it every time!

Best thing is not to rush it I'm with you there. After 3 years of mine I will say don't buy cheap as you will definitely buy twice. I can think of 3 areas where I've changed from standard and then changed that 'uprated' part because I took a cheaper option. Since I did those, no corners have been cut. There really is no point if you want to be happy at the end of the day.

What area are you from in the UK? There's quite a few remap options around that have plenty of happy customers throughout the country. I've got an AmD stage two map on mine which has been on the car over two years now. I'm only 20mins away so any issues and I could get to them easily for them to sort it but it's been pretty good. Very smooth and tonnes of torque :)

Revo would be a good move if you're nearby to a dealer of their software. You can get an OBD II device called an SPS controller which allows you to adjust the boost settings and timing allowing you to customize it a bit.

I didn't map mine until I was happy the car was serviced right the way through running good plugs, good fuel, new filters and with all stage 2 mods in place. This gave me maximum gain from going to a mapped car from standard. I remember my drive home from AmD that day very well!!! It was epic. Whichever map you choose, the best thing you can do is to get the car running to it's max before mapping and make sure there are no boost leaks! An air tight LCR is a fast one.

LOL.. I've had 3 other people on here genuinely ask about buying them! I say I won't change but you never know...

Sorry Mick... back to your thread mate :)

Yours looks great in those photos mate :)

North East where there is barely anyone around that does remapping. Yeh it's a long way off getting remapped, want to sort everything out first like you said, thinking in hoses to make sure no splits happen in boost pipes :p

So saturday whilst trying to start a Corrado the car decided it wanted to be broken as well!

Alarm would not start going off, left if unlocked on the drive for two days as garages were closed.

So just got it back from the garage and the source of all the trouble was the rear washer hose had split spraying all the boot lock electronics in screen wash. Here is some photos of the damaged wiring harness. May be broken but sure smells good! :p

Defo best to get hoses and the like all sorted first before a map if you can do it that way. Will be worth it for the end result once mapped!

That's annoying mate but at least all sorted now :)

The rear washer jet hose popped off mine when it froze up before but luckily didn't spray everywhere. Cable tied it back on so hopefully never comes off again!

Yeh probably buy hoses one at a time and just store them till I have got everything needed then fit them.

Its annoying like! I'm guessing mine had froze and when I have tried to wash the rear window its split. Garage said its quite common on all VAG cars of that age. Cables ties for the win though :1st:

Finally had time to do the two front callipers today! Been waiting for ages for the weather to get better for it!

Didn't take as long as I thought it would. The old lacquer was bit of a nightmare to remove but got there eventually by using an old Blockbuster card to scrape it away. Used 1200 wet and dry to rub back the callipers. Then two coats of Lacquer.

How they looked before:

Old lacquer removed and 1200 wet n dry to rub callipers back. Wrapped everything in newspaper and plastic bags to stop lacquer getting everywhere:

Next month should see the alloys getting refurbed and possibly some progress with exhaust to be done. Looking at getting non-res Cobra cat-back to start with then build it up as time / money goes by.

Any thoughts welcome :)
