Looks fairly similar to mine lol

Only things that stands out is that the filter is open to the elements - you considered getting an enclosed? Or making an airbox for it?

is ur filter supported in any way?? if it isnt there is a good chance the maf will fail due to the vibration

looks good tho

looking good matey, in my opinion open cone is better, more noise and i have no issues with it

No the airfilter is quite firmly placed so doesnt shake too much...think it sould be fine.
And I had a cone filter before this, and it made more noise, however this one makes my DV sound much louder...and liking that more I think.

Dont think I will be making an airbox for it...I just take it off regularly to clean it...will be fine

And the engine bay not even close to being finished...[B)]

Your filter sucking in hot engine bay air = lack in preformance. do you have a FMIC? I wouldnt worry to much as this should keep it cooler enough. Most people on here who run an open cone run them without a heatshield. Myself included :D.

FMIC is the aftermarket intercooler right?
If you are talking about that no not yet...I have only had the car for 3 months now and buying it set me back quite a bit already...
so gotta save up a bit again and then gonna continue modding it.

dont want to start another airbox/cold air intake vs open filter debate... i run an open filter and havent noticed any drop in performance

the theory is that the heat produced by the turbo is drawn in by the open filter in the engine bay, and as the air is hot, is less dense, so less oxygen, so drop in horse power.

someone i know actually did an experiment where he fitted countless air temperature sensors in the engine bay of his car, and measured the temperature. when his car was sitting still... engine bay temperature did rise considerabley, which would effect the power

but as soon as the car was doing more than 5mph the airflow throught the engin bay was such that all temperatures dropped to ambient temperature (or very close)

basically... i wouldnt worry too much about an open cone filter

but the air from the air filter is going stright into a red hot turbo anyway...

i think heaksoak in the engine bay only really applies to n/a cars.

the turbo is 100's of degrees C, the air going through doesnt get that hot

putting hot air into the turbo just means that the air intake temperatures are gonna be slightly higher

these are just estimates:

eg. air into tubo 16degrees = air out of turbo (into engine) 30degrees

increase air intake temp

air into turbo 25degrees = air out of turbo (into engine) 40degrees
