I can't get over how clean and new looking this all is for a 40K+ mile engine it all looks brand new........and I thought you had sh1tty winter north of the border ;)........I was at least expecting some dirt, grime and salt marks.

Assuming you have chosen the SS manifold I assume you have some idea what you will be bolting to it in turbo terms? are you still deciding what type exactly but Garret series i.e GT28 or as I suspect GT30

Good stuff!

If you reuse the std oil drain & gasket, don't do what I did.

Whip off plastic bag, can't find gasket anywhere.
Order gasket from dealers.
Wait 2 days.
Fit new gasket.

When job finished, pick up plastic bag and find gasket inside.

I am sure hylomar would of done the job :funk:

Update!

Head has been sent away for a 3 angle valve job and skimming 4 thou off the head to create a better sealing surface :)

Hit a bit of a snag now, as the machine shop broke my cam chain tensioner :( fell on floor  He said he would sort me out with something but have to see if its a new tensioner.

Didn't get any pictures of the the dismantled head as I was in such a rush to get it sent away plus up to 3-4 in the morning taking it apart.

Still need to install rods, and clean the gasket surfaces.

All in all should be finished within 2-3 weeks :) Total of 6 weeks

The engine is in great condition not one bit of sludge in the head dont know about block tho. There is no wear ridge on the bore and you can still see the cross hone marks on the bores.

I am not even going to bother changing the rings and tbh I am thinking twice about changing the main and big end bearings.

Looking good mate, these "build" threads are awesome. If you need any engine info such as torque settings or anything you may not have then PM me and i will sort you out.

Bottom End!!!

Proper impressed by how clean the bottom end is.

Rods will be going in soon once my mic has comes.

I'm not that bothered about the blueing the big end doesn't get any oil pressure compared to the mains so its expected. Actually it might get force fed oiling through the crank from mains.

The oil sprayers are right under the bores so you won't be able to see them. Still not got the rods out as I didnt have any spare rubber pipe to protect the journals.

However on the lower bearing shell on no.1 there was a scoring on the bearing so something has been down there.
