Ever tried reaching across and cleaning a standard height cars roof when you are so short? Those of you that are vertically challenged like me will know exactly what I am talking about. Solution, reduce the height of the roofline. I am no Boyd Coddington (just as well as I don't fancy pushing up roses just yet) so a roof chop is out of the question! Next solution comes in the form of these,

containing some of these

throw in some of these for good measure and to stop that darn knocking

Fancying some rimmage change so bought these as modelled by man at C&A

Now I hear you ask youself what on earth could these be going on, well the answer is something slightly different to the norm

Yukky. Whilst appreciating the recently tinkered with ECU I wasn't going a whole bundle on the ride height even though with the climate, cruise, aircon and centre armrest I was starting to become accustomed to the wafting along in grandad style ride quality. Well, after three weeks of "wafting" and an immanent MOT due and replacment of said droplinks and topmounts inevitable I thought I best do something about it.

Well, after a day of popping my MK4 chassis cherry what we've been left with is this

See what I done there, I threw you off the trail with the five spokes ;-)

Just about to pay for some spacers to bring the front slightly further away from the adjuster and the rears to come out 20mm to close some of that gap.

Well, there you have it, project 5' 6" aka Project "Bench" aka Project "Completed within 22 days" is pretty much done and dusted.

Loving the new look mate, wheels and ride height suit it well and the spacers will make a massive difference to the stance.

I know you said you were vertically challenged but standing next to them wheels really does show how short you are 8).

Yep, still a member on jetta owners club, still got my weekend toy which is now laid up for the winter

It's rare that Tolly's look decent, but that drop on those wheels suits it.

Wheels are ET35 runnig 225 40's, there is about 1-2mm between the adjuster and the tyre. Debating whether to change to 215 35's which will easily sort any issues.

I assume the wheels are 8J? if so definitely go for 215/40/18's
(215/35's are cool, but you will lose 30mm in diameter with that tyre, only lose 7mm with the 40profile)

Ahh ok that's cool....I'm looking for some new wheels atm..... But don't want any wheel rubbing problems...I may just have to buy 5mm spacers for front and10 for the rear....sorted haha

Did toy with that idea but Nah, kinda had sorted in my head what I wanted to achieve with this from the moment I picked it up. Took me a while to find the wheels at the right price and a coupla other options came up but I am glad that I stuck to my original plan.

Just need to work out now how to extract some extra power from it. Already been mapped so I am guessing bigger injectors and maybe a bigger turbo.

Sorry for some more self-*****ing but it's amazing what a differnt camera can do, the above were mine on my compact Fujifilm and these ones are from a mates DSLR (or whatever they are called)
