I use an ice-hockey puck with a slot cut in it with an angle grinder. Much safer than a block of wood, which could easily slip off the jacking cup of the trolley jack.

The ice hockey puck fits inside the cup, and so cannot slip off.

I never jack a car up on the sill if it can be avoided. Use the subframe or a structural part underneath. You could straighten out your sill with a pair of vice grips and repaint it as the original protection will likely to be split.

Might try that with the vice grips. -what paint is it? Is it for protection or assthetically purposes?

For protection as if any metal is exposed it will inevetably rust. I would straighten it out and clean it up and paint it with a durable stonechip. However make sure its free of moisture and salt which at this time of year is difficult. A temporary fix may be better then sort it out in the summer.
