Yeah not wanting to turn this into a mpg debate lol, but I was driving like a saint along the first part of trip and was lucky to see 30mpg doing a steady 70mph, only going higher in places less throttle was required.

Having driven RS Turbos and Evos, im pretty good at keeping it off boost but found the Cupra so refined its not easy to feel/hear the turbo winding up :)

As expected today as the car is now dry, im seeing lots of little chips and scratches that were invisible in yesterdays wet conditions! Just the usual sort of stuff to be expected - nothing horrendous, but still a tiny bit disappointed as i thought it was a lot cleaner.

I need to give it a proper clean to be able to assess the level of wear and tear the paint has.

Any suggestions for getting that sort of thing sorted in the North East? I used a Chips Away guy a few years back to give my Pug some paint repairs ranging from light scratches through to gouges where someone tried to break in and he did a great job.

Very nice cupra. Just amazed you were able to keep a car for 13 years!

Cheers man.
Its easy to keep a car for 13 years - buy a massive Victorian house (aka money pit), buy a new roof for it, new heating system, new windows and doors, get engaged, have 2 holidays in that time.

Im hoping in the next 13 years i might be able to afford a pot to wizz in :)

There's a place in Sunderland called car and bike magic.

They've done alloys for me and painted and bonded by cupra R diffuser

I'll be going there to get my bonnet resprayed. They quoted me 130 iirc

SEAT Pulman use them all the time to fit things for them on new cars etc and sort out alloys/resprays etc

Yeah I can see now why you might have been able to keep a car for thirteen years lol !
I got a good quote from bike magic too and recommended by pulman.

Mate they're spot on, the bloke I spoke to was a bell end, but they did a MINT job. So I forgive him for being a miserable ***** lol

Thanks for the heads up, will defo see if they can try and correct some of the worst marks and scratches without having to get a whole panel done.

Honestly some look like Stevie Wonder had a go at touching them up.

Gave it a proper wash and made a note of where all the nasties are in the paint so i can track them.

Probably best i stay away from the polish if im thinking of getting paint.

Somehow the tailgate was covered in tiny dots of tar, and i have literally just spent the last 2hrs working on that alone, just before it started spitting with flaming rain.

Damn getting it off in and around the CUPRA lettering was a right chew.
It looks hella lot better now, but there are some scratches just to the left of the offside cluster. Cant even think how that was done, unless someone tried to get some bird turd off without soaking it first or something - doh.

Dont get me wrong, its still overall in very decent nick, and from what i can tell hasnt had any paint apart from these poor touchups, but if i had viewed it in the dry and been aware of these blemishes up front, i definitely would have asked the dealer to sort it all to my standards, or maybe reduced the price to cover me getting it sorted.

Nothing worse than not spotting something :(

My cupra has a little crack in the front bumper, didn't see it before I got it:cry:

Bugger forgot to blank the number plates. Will have to re-up them when i get home

The black dots on tailgate may not be tar, soot deposits from exhaust are common and stick like Fook.

lol you PLANK!:rofl::rofl:

Did the same thing last night lol. Never know how important it is to blank it out anyway. Ah well.

Maybe some, but these were all over the front wings, doors, worse on the tailgate, not too much round the 'haust exit, but there was really thick covering which had splattered all around the bottom of the rear bumper like you would see mud come up from the wheels. I really should have taken a shot of it all.
Realised I had some tar remover only after I had done the whole car with clay and elbow grease :-o

Spent most of the weekend cleaning. Getting all the tar and stuff off it must have equated to about cleaning 5 cars by the time I finished!

Wash > clay > remove remaining tar > more clay > rinse > polish. Didnt have time or energy to clean my bike afterwards. (The fact they match was not a plan!)

Took these pics just before it started raining :D

Ours come off ok now car's waxed :D you noticed any change in soot since having exhaust done?
OP - car looks good, don't see many that colour

Cheers. After buying it, im just in the process of saving up to be able to afford to drive it somewhere so I will see what appears on a clean slate :D

They had a speed blue TDi at the dealership, very tasty colour too.

Just realised how blurry some of the pics are - well my arms were shaking like a sh***ing dog after all the hard graft :D
