Hi All,
I have been a month long lurker while deciding on what car to buy. Ended up buying an Urban Silver Cupra 290 on a lease and to be honest I'm delighted I did! Car is in silver so doesn't stand out and I am far too old to look like 'boy racer' anyway.
My final choices were Alfa Guila or Kia Stinger, both of which were far too much extra money really. Plus the Stinger has 6k service intervals...
On Wednesday night I did a quick trip and averaged 15mpg (gulp!). Today following traffic to work well within speed limits I averaged 43MPG over 45 miles which really amazed me.
Anyway, my question is this.
Reading this forum several times people have mentioned the tyre pressure being too high straight out of the factory. My car is according to the sticker should be 39 front, 35 back with minimal load, 42 front and back with full passenger/load.
I didn't trust the airline I used as it said I had 44psi front and back, so I guessed it must be closer to 42psi and duly deflated fronts to 41 and rear to 37.
The ride now seems different, in a bad way. The ride seems more 'crashy' if that makes sense.
What pressures are you running your tyres at? I have continental 5P tyres.
I am seriously thinking about just putting some more air in, but don't want to wear my tyres too quickly,
Thanks!
