DHL FINALLY decided to deliver my spacesaver wheel at 5pm today.
Although my wheels are 19", I've taken a chance on buying an 18" spacesaver wheel off Ebay - says it's for a Formentor, but I'm aware that it probably won't clear the brake calipers on the front of the VZ2, so coxing & boxing will have to take place if I get a front wheel puncture.
Anyway, it fits nicely in the boot. The VW retaining screw fits perfectly and holds the wheel as it should. The boot floor goes back in nicely too.
The wheel fits on the car and I reckon it would get me out of a flat tyre situation better than The Flippin' Gunk would. I've read that a spacesaver that's 1" smaller than the other wheels is fine - but if that worries you, the same firm sells a 19" version.
Cost - Wheel = £139. Ebay Link
Plastic Screw = £12.99. Amazon UK Link
Scissor Jack = £12.99
Total = £164.98
