Back to upgrading the turbo, I was under the impression that the PD 130 and 150 motors used the same turbo and injectors, but differed in the map and intercooler.

I'd go for the (much more) extra wedge and get an uprated turbo, but that will be just the start of the spending to make the most of it.
 
The Ibiza PD130 uses a KKK unit. The PD150's all use a Garrett unit.
Some PD130's, Volkswagens and Audi's, do come with a Garrett unit though.
So basically you want the Garrett turbo as this is capable of more power, and is the unit that most hybrids are based on.

Worth just buying a complete unit from TD?

Personally, I think its only worth supplying the turbo yourself if you can get one in good condition for less than £250
