Hi All.

After having the voice guidance switched off for a long time, I need them on as I was going somewhere unfamiliar.

Initially I tried the speech input, and after a while managed to say the right words and was told that the guidance was now on. However no voice guidance.

I then went through the menus to the voice commands and made sure that was switched on, but still no guidance.

Any ideas folks before I book it into the dealers....?

There is a navigation announcement volume in the set-up, has this been turned down to '0' to mute them? Car not here so I cannot go check the series of menus to get to it, but pretty sure it is in the setup menu from the Navigation screen.

I have this problem with mine sometimes, With the voice command tell it navigation announcements off and then navigation announcements on and this brings them back for me.
Just using navigation announcements on never seems to work.

I had this same issue and the above resolved it for me, so thanks!

Having took it into the stealers, they had no idea and suggested I book it in for diagnostics - if it was an equipment failure it would be covered under warranty, but if it was a wiring issue I would have had to pay £70 for the diagnostics... Glad I checked here first!

Surely a wiring issue is covered by the warranty, as would the diagnosis?

That's what I thought, but the chap said if it was identified to be a wiring fault the diagnostic check would not be covered so I'd have to cover the cost for that. I was confused, so told him I'd leave it and try to figure it out myself

I had this happen to me yesterday returning from holiday, a series of voice commands to activate/de-activate/activate voice guidance resolved the issue. Glad I had read this!

I appreciate that this is an old thread, but I had exactly the same issue in that the navigation announcements suddenly stopped working. I tried turning voice commands on and off, re-set the navigation announcement and the master volume levels all to no avail. Interestingly, I noticed that when the sat was trying to talk, the volume level was on low, showing just a single red dot that you couldn't increase when turning the volume up. Out of sheer frustration with constantly driving around to test the setting changes I had made, I noticed that there was a demo mode which I activated. As soon as I loaded the route in demo mode I immediately got a voice advising that the route was being calculated and then it proceeded to to provide turn by turn commands. I then switched to normal navigation mode and the voice commands continued to work. I am now very happy and thought I'd share my experience in case anyone else has the same, somewhat baffling, issue.
