Nearest dealership?

Hi folks,
Just got my leon cupra and the stereo is in safe mode (good start ). Anyhow the car is originally from Lister (Coventry) and they won't tell me the code over the phone and said that I've got to go to my local dealership with the stereo and proof of ownership.

So could anyone tell me who would be the clostest dealership to St.Helens (merseyside)?
Any help would be much appreciated,

PS How easy is the stereo to take out and do you need an extra connection for an after market one?

A dealer should be able to access the radio code from its VIN (Vehicle ID Number).

Stereo is normal ISO single DIN, so pretty much any normal modern aftermarket headunit can replace the original SEAT one.

Only things you would need, are the facia plate adaptor, so it fills the gaps left and right for the longer SEAT headunit, and ideally an antenna adaptor, as the SEAT headunit amplifies the antenna feed, most normal aftermarket headunits don't.

So without an adaptor, your radio signals will be crap.

Available from most good I.C.E Stockists, online places etc.

Dealer also needs the radio serial number to get the radio code. Dealers should not supply radio codes, key codes etc over the phone as a security measure. Thats why Miles was asked to go into the dealer to prove he is who he is and he owns the car

Many thanks guys. Looks like the nearest one is IMG in Warrington. I'll try and get up there today or tomorrow...hope they're a helpful bunch

I'll see what the stoc stereo is like and if it's not much kop I'l put in my sony MP
3 player.

I don't remember saying he shouldn't go to a dealer. (I take it you missed the fact i put the SEAT dealer postcode locator link in that post)

But always good to get the full info.

One of my gripes has been poor PDI by SEAT dealers, who havn't checked the radio manual to make sure the code was in it. I had 2 SEAT cars, both brand new, neither had the codes in the manuals, nor were the code cards in the car. I had to request them, after i realised they were missing.

Fortunately the present car, also new, got a proper PDI, and did have everything included.

Did I imply that? Didn't mean to and don't think I did. Anyway I only put that bit in in case anyone out there thought the dealer was being awkward by not giving out the info over the phone
