The Seat took a minor knock yesterday morning with a Passat who decided he didn't like the lane he was in at an approach to a roundabout... Anyway the bumper and nearside light took the knock and broke the front nearside indicator bulb clean off.

I replaced the bulb and it still does not work. The new bulb is fine. Plug connection seems ok an all the fuses check out (irrelevent as they all work bar n/side front)

Any ideas please before it goes in for repair as its not ideal?

If you have one, put a multimeter across the terminals on teh plug just to double check its getting power to it. WHat have you done to check the bulb is definately ok - put it in one of the other bulb holdrs just to be sure. Do you have the correct bulb, there are 2 types - straight pins and offset pins - IIRC you need offset pins - any chance you could have forced a straight pin buld into the holder?

Hope you get it sorted mate,

Cheers.

Bulbs definately offset pins. Swapped with other side just to make sure bulbs ok too.

Mutli meter is the next step and will reckon there is 'no power' to the terminals. Spent ten minutes this morning then had to get in to work. Will try tomorrow before I get into work with the meter.

I think something has gone awry prior to the socket/terminals.

check the little metal contact in the plug, they have a thing for bending under vibration. take the bulb out bend the contact towards yourself and it "should" work

Update:

Whilst I was at work the little friendly gremlins came to visit the car. On the way home from the office I realised that its working fine again.

If it were an Alfa I could understand...... i'm far from moaning about it though. All in all very odd - Mediterranean metal?

Fingers crossed on the return leg to work tomorrow morning.
