I want to upgrade my standard brakes (mostly front) on my 1.6 S.

I was thinking 312mm discs on the front with some sportier pads, EBCs since DS2500s are out of my price range.

I doubt the 312mm discs will fit straight out of the box, so what will I need to do? New carriers?

What are the standard sizes of the discs on the back and the front of my Leon MK1?

Thanks for your advice,

Jon

If anyone has done this upgrade, PLEASE help me.

Thanks again.

I've heard a rumour that the brakes on the 1.6 have a fixed carrier but if you hear of anyway of upgrading them thats not stupid money let me know how it works out cos i'm interested in doing it. The normal dics look silly behind my wheels!

Ahhh ok. I might hang on a bit then...

OK from poking around it looks like I will need 312mm carriers along with the new discs.

Is this correct?

Or are the calipers on the Leons adjustable, and I also heard that they are fixed, but man at SEAT dealers said they are removable!

g2g to work now...back later on...

mintex 1812 are good fast road pads, the 1144 are decent but more oem...

go for better quality discs and pads on standard setup mate, after all its a 1.6 and not much better stopping power is needed, thats if you dont want to spend silly money..

or go porsche 911 setup, buy cupra hubs and fit them ont o 312mm discs....

looking at 600 plus for this though.

ebc ultimax discs on ds2500 pads, looking at 300 plus anyways
