I'm sceptical heat shields work at all. The Nuespeed heat shield certainly doesn't. K&N also also make a filter for the S2000 with a built in velocity stack.
OP is there any chance you could change the title to include S2000 filter so it's easier to find in future searches.

The jabba one and its copies does work, you can hear it sealing against the bonnet so it must be getting most of its feed from the cold pipe rather than engine air. But even if it wasnt it does hold the MAF steady which is just as important.

When alls said and done its still really the intercooler that lowers the charge temps.

The air goes into the turbo gets compressed. Passes through the turbo which can run at 900c + then passes through this

I just don't see how a couple of mm of aluminium make any difference??? Especially as, as you drive forward the air entering the engine bay passes back wards and not sideways. If you're worried about intake temps fit WMI, I plan to:p

its effectively an enclosed filter so is forced to draw air from the pipe in the wing (least resistance) providing its well fitting of course

I know what you mean and it be fine.
Waste of time maybe, but fine.

Yeah i did say i would only do nice visual mods hahah.... we shall see

1.4 draws its air from an area with low pressure (wheel arch if Im correct). Best thing you can do is create a direct feed from an area with high pressure (front, front sides) straight into a closed filter.

The 1.4 air feed goes from the left of the throttle body and has in air intake (plastic pipe) bolted to the slam pannel??? next to the bonnet catch.
