Hiya guys

The short version is

I dont know what all the models are and what comes with what

In a realistic world I would be buying a LCR and insuring it etc

Real life im 23 with 3 years ncb and one claim against me

Im looking for a diesel that looks the same as a LCR (im sure I have seen some loating around?)

What kinda prices would I be looking at etc

All info is good info :)

THanks

Lee

Leon FR TDi or Cupra TDi look similar to the LCR's. Come with the side skirts and bigger bumpers than standard.. Twin exhaust pipes, FR/Cupra badges, sportier grille.. The LCR has 18" wheels as oppose to the FR TDi/Cupra TDi's 17s... Very similar inside, all dark etc with chrome inner door handles but no red touches where the Cupra R would have them and also the 'R' on the seats! ;)

They still look good though.. And remap to 200bhp stage 1 and a hell of a lot of torque!

Price wise look at 05 plates around £9k with reasonable or good mileage, in good nic that is.

Happy shopping :)

also the FR has silver door mirrors. the lcr has colour coded, see above ^

You want the FR+ which looks very much the same except with 17" wheels not 18".
The FR (without plus) looks like the cupra. I prefer that style, but I would say that as I have one well the petrol.

Don't buy a diesel, it's more expensive and slower. How does that work out, well it doesn't unless you're doing mega miles.

Indeed.. I tend to prefer the original FR look as oppose to FR+

Only because I think the LCR wheels don't look as good in 17"

That's my opinion though :)

I want ideally to spend around £6-7k for one

Wouldnt mind 18" alloys but 17 wouldnt go a miss

Cheers everyone for your help

lol Must type faster! :p However, I wouldn't say the 150 TDi was that slow. They have more torque than the LCR as standard... my mate has one, he keeps up surprisingly well ;) (until I got my remap that is :D)

Get an earlier Mk1 Cupra 1.8 20v T petrol for around £5k if you find a cracker that'll be a steal. I think the better FR/Cupra TDi's out there are going to set you back more than £6-7k.. possibly!

lol, wait till he gets the derv mapped... then you need a K04 hybrid :cartman:

out of the box though they're quick cars the TDi's. I drove one recently, standard 150bhp and it pulled like a train. Cheeky remap and your laughing!

this is gonna sound thick (im new be nice)

whats the diff between the early mk1's and the later ones

Basically just different bumpers, door mirrors & wheels on the cupra and slight tweek of the standard / optional equipment list.

The early ones don't look that great, the later Cupra spec looks a lot better IMHO however the early ones are more sleeper like than the later one. If you go for the FR+ you can't tell that its on 17's not until you get up close.
