Hi, Cupra Tavascan V1 arrived last week -
Totally smitten with it apart from 1 thing and its making me not want to drive it as its so uncomfortable - The suspension is awful!
I cant help but think that something must be wrong with it? On the flat its amazingly smooth - The minute you hit the slightest mound, not even a bump the cars bouncing all over the place. Any road that is slightly uneven, its all over the place. It has a real thump that makes you cringe over the smallest speed bumps/pot hole - drove to town yesterday and felt sick by the time I got back - surely this cant be right? ( I want to go back to driving my old Audi that Ive just put up for sale!)
We watched loads of reviews of The Tavascan, not one person mentioned the suspension, if it was as bad as mine is, it would have been mentioned!
Im loving everything else about this vehicle - Any advice greatly appreciated.
Think I'll be phoning the dealer on Monday

There have been instances in the past with cars from some of the VAG brands of dealers forgetting to remove the transit pucks from the front suspension struts when they carry out the pre-delivery inspection. If they’re left in place in error (it was quite a common occurrence with VW’s mk7 Golf), then the ride is unacceptably harsh, firm and crashy.

Have a read of the posts at the links below. Those posts include pictures - or links to other posts - that show what the transit pucks look like and precisely where they’re located. Removing them should be straightforward if they weren't removed by the dealer.

Please update this discussion topic for the benefit of other forum members once you’ve checked to see if that is the cause of your car’s bouncy, uncomfortable ride.

Thank you so much for your help! and the links - Very useful!
Transport Blocks were left in and thanks to your links, we new where to find them.
Im absolutely raging as this car was driven by a delivery driver from Carlisle and we stay in the Highlands of Scotland!
Going to be calling the dealer first thing - Im so relieved, been out for a drive and its super comfortable, what a difference, we knew there must be something not right!
Very glad I joined this Forum, thanks again for your quick responses, very much appreciated.

Thanks for the update. It‘s really good that the issue was something that was easily rectified but very disappointing that the transport blocks weren’t removed by the dealer. Like you, I’d also be extremely annoyed and it begs the questions;
  • what else might have been missed when your car was PDI’d?
  • what is the likelihood of there being future suspension issues (premature wear or failure of suspension components) as a result of your car being driven with the transit blocks left in? If there are any such issues, how would the dealer propose rectifying them? Would the dealer bear the cost of repairs if not covered by the warranty? (Warranty T&C’s at the link below)
I think you’re owed a big apology from the dealer and hopefully a decent selection of ‘worthwhile’ freebies.

Happens all the time. Not acceptable, but the motor trade is in a real state. So when businesses pay peanuts - they get monkeys. Then, when they incentivize quantity over quality we end up in this situation.

How many times have we seen this happen? And how a delivery driver drove it all that way without thinking " the ride on this thing is a bit rubbish" is beyond me.

It still happens too many times unfortunately. VAG have used that particular type of transit block for 12 years or more, so workshop techs carrying out PDI’s should be well aware of their location and the need to remove them; IMHO there’s really no excuse for not doing so.

I‘m assuming there’s some sort of tickbox PDI checklist that workshops techs use when doing a PDI. If so, then;
a) presumably checking for transit blocks and removing them would be an item on the checklist?
b) it would be interesting to see the completed checklist for forum member @FGC ‘s car.

Not only is there a check list, there's also a mirror hanger that's left on by the factory, indicating that blocks are installed 🤷

😮 Wow! Then there really is no excuse for the blocks not being removed.

I’d like to be a fly on the wall when @FGC speaks to the dealer today to hear their response for their ‘oversight’. @FGC - please could you update this discussion topic once you’ve spoken to the dealer.

Mirror hangers are too easily ignored, judging by the amount of times my cars come back from service "washed", even though I go to the trouble of attaching my very polite mirror tag asking them not to wash it!

Thank you for that, I agree , Im just about to phone the dealer - Im worried what else may have been missed! Shocking to pay for a car of that price and get that kind of service?!!! Does no-one take a pride in their job anymore? - Surely The PDI is a tick list? job done tick, job done tick, Transport Blocks oh well its Friday, Tick!!! 🤯😡

I also wondered how the delivery driver failed to even mention the suspension - Anyone who has driven the A82 will know what I mean, actually very surprised it made it this far - I hadnt even driven out the drive and could tell something wasnt right - But again its probably a case of he just delivers the car - not his job to give an opinion - But seriously!!🤯
