New Ibiza Owner... Noob questions!

Hi,

Last week I finally traded in my 2001 Fiesta Zetec S for a 57 Ibiza 1.9 TDI FR in dark grey.

As I've had my Fiesta for a good 8 years so im absolutely loving my new Ibiza!

I have a few questions though...

1. When I press my TCS button it doesn't light up on the dash to indicate its switched off. I've tested the TCS works though by accelerating a bit quickly from standing still ;) and it flashed when the wheels span. Is it broken?

2. When I put the car in reverse and begin to back up the climate system will suddenly go high and blow in my face :D Is this normal? I'm not really bothered about it though.. just a bit strange.

3. Remaps? Have they ever gone wrong?

4. This is my first time having a diesel. Any recommendations for keeping good care of her.

Cheers!

Number 2: It basically provides circulation for the cabin, to prevent exhaust gasses from killing you whilst you reverse, all ibiza's do it..

Welcome to the site! The air system goes into re-circulation so that when you reverse you don't have the chance of any of your own fumes making their way into the cabin. [B)]
Don't know why it would necessarily be blowing in your "face" - have you got it on the dash board vents? I usually just have mine on "auto" so mostly it blows at windscreen and feet in that mode iirc...
For more info have a browse through the FAQ section, the link is at the top of the page... [B)]

The vents were set that way at the time. It was just a way of me describing what was going on...

I will have browse of the FAQ.

Cheers.

Sounds like TCS switch is bust. Tried holding it for a few secs?

Diesel care. Check oil/ coolant weekly (like all cars) make sure its fully warm before thrashing.

Yeah, I tried holding it for a good few seconds. Much to replace? Can I do it myself?

+1 all New Seats come with a 3 year SEAT warranty, so you still have a bit of time, if i were you get the car into them before the end as with all VAG cars the repairs can get a little on the steep side

on mine as soon as i press the tcs button the light comes on the dial, so if it isnt lighting up then yeah its broke,

if the car hasnt been run very often then give it a bit of a birth with setting in, i bought mine with 24k on the clock and 9months it has done 16k extra, needless to say it had a few hissy fits along the way, kinda like a fat man eating his KFC on a beanbag one evening to running the london marathon the following morning, it didnt like it one bit at first, but now mpg has shot up runs alot smoother, keep checking the oil and coolant as kahn said, on its next service get the filters inspected and tbh the ol' derv unit will run and run, many people have these engines running into 110k+ miles

Thanks for all the advice guys. I will get it into the seat dealer soon.

The car had just clocked 13K miles when I bought it.

TCS button was fixed by the dealers yesterday.

I was told they removed the button to find it wasnt connected to anything, so had to dismantle the centre console to find where the wire was!

Ready for snow now! :p

thought i would chip in with the remap question!

had mine on my car since about 10k....as mine is 57 plate...and now on 30k and no problems...no clutch slip.

However, some people have expereinced slip when remapping the pd130's

Sounds like TCS is broke to be honest, If it flashes on mine that means the traction control is cutting in.
If I press it and its permanently lit that means its off!

Get a Stage 1 Remap from P-Torque,
And never ever put your foot down under 2000rpm you'll wreck the clutch!
Take it to a Seat dealer instead of the Fiat!

Other than that! Have fun!
