Despite the title, the car is not new, its new to me :)

I have recently put a deposit down on a 55 plate LCR 225, and im just wondering what sort of things i can be doing to improve it, service wise, modding wise . . .

Just after some general pointers to be honest!

Will post pics up when the car arrives :D

Thanks in advance

What colour have you gone for? mods depend on you budget but to start i would go for the forge 007p dump valve, and air filter , the jetex has just seen good results look at Jons build thread i am sure he will have mentioned it, other than that the anti role bars will really help with the handling but your looking at £200-£300 for them like i said it does depend on your budget.

Its in black mate!

The first thing i was gunna get was DV and air filter, but very unsure on which ones to go for, ive heard alot of the dump valves can damage the engine management on the 1.8 20vs

Is this true?

The sheer power of the thing is plenty for me to get accustomed to from standard, if I'm honest.. it's taken me a solid 2 months of ownership to learn that full throttle just isnt possible in 2nd, in the wet; if you want your brake pads and tyres to last (traction control hammers the brakes!)

Looking through the data on ECU remaps suggests the torque curve gets a lot more smooth, which interests me more than just extra power: w ww.superchips.co.uk/curves/Leon%20Cupra%20R%20225BHP.pdf

Do check that all the carpets are dry, though (underneath the mats) - my LCR225 is on 80k miles and I found soggy carpet drivers side front and rear yesterday.. wouldn't expect this on an 05 car but it is a common fault for the inner door seals to leak (with an inexpensive remedy).

Check out proclip custom phone mounts at Brodit.SE - though mine wouldn't clip in above the hazard warning switch trim without fouling the buttons, so used the sticky foam instead.

My opinion is that the 1.8T lump does pretty well with its standard recirculation valve, I couldn't find out positively whether a valve added for more noise would impact performance or longevity..

The problem with the dump valves is if you try to run the atmospheric ones they can throw the car into limp mode, it wont damage the car its just very annoying, you can use the forge 007 which is recirculating, but with the cone filter tip and removing the padding under the bonnet you can hear it. :D

Picked the car up last night, I am so happy with it!

There is a few rattles etc but what can you expect from an 05 plate car?

Im a mechanic and had the car on the ramp today to check it over. I have found that it has been fitted with a Forge diverter valve (its black) not sure what model it is.

It has a Miltek exhaust, with a similar tail pipe as standard and some sort of short shifter, could only read 'speed' on it.

I suspect it has probably been remapped aswell but a rolling road day in the future will confirm whether or not that is true!

I found 3 tyres to be out of shape aswell unfortunately, the car is booked in at the garage i bought it from on Saturday to get them looked at!

I am going to a local meet tonight and will try and get some pictures if i remember.

All in all though, extremely impressed with the performance, looks and handling of the car!

Thanks for all the advise aswell guys!

Is there any adjustment on it? Its not the split R valve, but i noticed the top of it was slightly loose last night, and since i have tightened it, it seems a little louder, unless maybe it was leaking air a bit.

Took the Diverter valve to bits today, and it has the yellow spring in it!

Im not sure if that is right or not, it was pretty clean inside, doesnt seem to have affected the performance or anything so im pretty happy!

Hopefully getting it rolling roaded at the end of the month.

Had a little tinkle with an R32 last night, and kept up with it no problem, was very impressed!
