I like it, I like the understated looks.
Only thing is it will have SEATs stupid lack of choice of colours again something i hate about the cupra Range of cars, something i bet has put many people of them in the past.
I also find it sad they never seem to offer the concept cars colours, that lovley off white colour of the original cupra R or this time that lovley metallic red.

I wait to see the price though i think SEAT is getting a bit expensive they should be cheaper than the mainstream rivals from Vauxhall, Ford, Mazda imho,

if the price is right and some of these places do good discount i can see me having one of these.

Oh dear Seat! what the hell is that??? It's an FR with different wheels, a black painted bit on the front bumper and a single pipe sticking out the back! wow!!!! Whats happened to the wide arches and grunt??? Ok the engine will be super, but thats just not enough. Got looooovely seats tho ;-)

Look at the Honda Civic type R concept (99% production model) and you get goose bumps and you hear "i want one" rushing round ya head... with the Leon its.... "mmmm, its Ok, nothing special" IT LOOKS BORING!!!!

Still, it might mean the old shape LCR wont lose too much in value!

Come on Seat you can do MUCH better!

Go back and read that parkers guide!!! Yes you lose 3k on the 18k asking price... you lose on every new car! remember the 2.5k saving in January? yes of course you do... well go back and look at the resale at dealer prices... and look at they are more expensive now USED! cant see that being such a bad loss... can you?

Hmmm, verdict is out on this one for me, somehow I was expecting it to be far more evolved from the FR given that the FR is a 'SEAT go faster model', and the Cupra is supposed to be 'Works inspired'. Its OK, but whether its good enough compared to the new competition (Type R Mk2, Focus RS Mk2) remains to be seen. At least they got to pilfer the VW parts bins for some seats, otherwise it would have been borderline ordinary.
As has been said before I literally drooled the first time I entered a SEAT dealership to get the Ibiza serviced and there sat an Black R Mk1 in full valetted glory. I knew immediately I had to get one at any cost. I'm just not getting the same draw to this one. The current R is so good I went back for a 2nd one!
I'm going to wait for some expert verdicts on here before I part with any more cash on this one. As bent as it seems I've been considering the new TT 2.0T (which is still unfortunately 2wd), but maybe the new S3 will offer the 4wd that will make better use of the power.
Too much choice, too little money :-(

I have to agree with Warren on this one, I was 99.9% set on a CTR but a small part of me said go and look at the LC before you sign on the dotted line, there were no local dealers but I traveled to Swindon to see the LC. While at SEAT Swindon I saw the LCR and that was it, nothing else would do! The new LC just doesn't have the same effect, it may be 0.1s quicker 0-62 but it's the complete package I'm interested in and it just doesn’t do it for me. If the old LCR had looked exactly like the LC with a bit of black paint on the front bumper I would have stuck with the CTR. I'm sure the new LC will be great to drive but I want it to look a bit special as well.
SEAT have already developed the body kit it should have, but it is an optional extra which just prices it out of the market.

I love my LCR, It's been making me smile from ear to ear since the day I bought it, but having seen it's replacement I would rather spend the money it would take to replace with the new LC on a new FMIC, coil overs, a CIA, performance exhaust and a big turbo.

The CTR is an MPV!!! Not a nice looking car plus **** loadsa old foke drive civics!!!
The old LCR is the car if they changed the rear design I might be tempted but those large lights & big bit of black plastic stuff on rear bumper... NAF. Looks like should of had 2 tailpipes as the exhaust just doesn't fill the space surrounded by the black plastic stuff.
Guess will have to check it at motor show.......

i have to say, not really very impressed... its not enough different from an FR to make anyone think they'd want one.. in fact the aero kit on the TDI sport is more fitting for the cupra - which puts the kybosh on those who say production costs/realities arent realistic.

great work with the interior, engine and brakes.. even like the wheels somewhat although they're not quite what i had expected for some reason.. was expecting something a little different... but the bodykit.. just wayyy off.

did ford, vauxhall, vw make their "top of the line" sporty model look exactly like the model underneath it???? no.. they didnt.. so why did seat? so what, little black bits unpainted, exhaust pipe, wing mirrors.. big deal... i was expecting them to do something good, like move the exhaust to the middle (astra vxr) twin exhausts (focus st) ok.. i suppose the golf gti wasnt *that* different but you can name any other hot hatch you like, and the manufacturer made it different enough to stand out - seat in this regard is naff...

however. what they have created is a proper bona fide Q car. something that will have a good crack at anything on the road and not look sooo special, much like the original mk1 leon cupra or leon 20vt sport..

if the price is right.. i might jump back into a leon...

Except that the kit on the TDI is a several thousand pound option, then add in the Cupra's engine, brakes, interior, we don't even know what it comes with as standard yet, bluetooth, xenons etc.

That would easily make it a car, floating around Audi A3 SLine prices, if not more, production costs have a huge effect. People won't pay those kind of prices for a SEAT.

I have to say that the ST looks dull in any colour other that orange, especially if it a 5 door.

Spot the differance.

And Vauxhall spent to much money on the bodykit and not enough on the chassis.

Granted they could have done more but I’d be more concerned how it drives. And if our TDI Sport is anything to go by it’s going to run rings round the LCR.

don't like it, would rather stick to the LCR

was referring to the twin exhausts at the back :

also, the bodykit is subtle, but different enough to a "normal" focus to tell the difference.. there *is* no difference really between the FR and cupra... thats what i was kinda getting at in a roundabout kinda way.

!¬)

And I'm sure Ford will make a different body kit for the next Focus RS. I can't see them keeping the looks of the ST. Clearly, SEAT should have gone the extra mile on the Cupra looks.

To us Seat geeks we’ll know the difference.

And to be honest if you took the badges off the new Leon (any model) and ask the general public what make it was, I’d expect that a high percentage would get it wrong. So many people say to me “that’s a nice Civic” I guess it’s all down to marketing budgets.

i suppose what it boils down to is the fact that i think the tdi with the aero kit is what i thought the cupra *should* have looked like. i'm happy with the overal package, and i'm sure it'll go well and all the other bits you expect - but i'd just expected a little.. more? thats all.

The aero kit is modular, so the twin zorsts kit, im sure will be an optional add on.

Only a few hours to go, hopefully we'll get a better idea of price and standard and optional bits.

The last I read was that the RS had been canned as it wouldn’t make a profit.

Also the RS would have competed with the STI and the EVO and not hot hatches like the Cupra, Golf GTi, Astra VX, etc.

I'm personally not so keen on the Aero kit, its nice, but a little ott for my personal tastes, i much prefer the Q car look. Im happy with the look of the Cupra, its what i expected, and as ive said already, im ordering one as soon as they are available for ordering.
