Those seats are simply gorgeous. Look how high the sides are at the base [B)]

They could have stuck the new cupra flag on the rear a la FR badge. I'm sure that's something that can be addressed though. :)

i like it a bit subtle but it does look the part and those seats  and i would think 300bhp is very easy to achieve.its nice to see they kept the brakes and the front is in keeping with the new vag style but could do with a spoiler on the back but other than that i like it as they have kept it like the old one with the same design features as the old like the black on back bumper and the oval zorst so yep i like it.how much will it be and whats going to look and drive better the leon or the new civic type r  as i think these will be the best hot hatches on the market.and i want them both

those pics don't do it any justice at all imho, flicking between the cupra championship car and the production cupra, the difference is vast(picture quality not the body kit),and makes it look lame.make your mind up when you see one in the flesh.
imho, don't like the wheels, seats look like MOMO speeds(straight outta halfords)

345 x 30 front brakes :-o

At least it's a standard size (I think) so should be easier to get aftermarket ones! :D

OOH 2,000th post!

But the rears are down graded and no longer ventilated, (I know the fronts are much more important but I I like having ventilated rears)

well well well, what have we got here ? Isn't this just a slightly upgraded FR with:

- 40 bhp more (not bad)

- fancier seats, which look great but very tall. Being a short man myself, they'll make me look like a midget..

- lower front bumper? looks a bit more agressive, reminds me of a Ferrari Modena
http://www.leane.it/categorie/Applicazioni/1/ferrari modena.jpg

- bigger wheels, look nice but are they nicer than the optional FR 18'' ?

- rear bumper looks identical to FR's

- is the dashboard absolutely identical ? I though the Cupra would have carbon inserts?

- not sure I like the logo on the gear lever. Also, is it crocodile skin??:D

If we compare the Cupra to the LCR:

- Huuuuge breaks fr345/ r286 mm (compared to 323/256 in the LCR)

- heavier : 1376 vs. 1310kg

- 0-62 in 6.4s vs. 7.2s (LCR 210) or 6.9s (LCR 225)

- 0-1000m in 26.4s vs 27s 24/100 (not much difference there, was expecting more)

All in all, it looks great, but not reallly much nicer than the already stunning FR.
A real shame it's not 4wd. I'm starting to find it ridiculous to have so much power on the front axel, especially on a rainy day.

I think the LCR front looks a bit dated, but certainly not the back, which still rocks IMO. Everytime I look at it, I can't help but gasp in admiration. Still the same sparkle as the first time I saw it at the dealership back in Feb 2003. I still love my LCR, and when I drive past a large mirror or window, I find its reflection on the move truly stunning. Has anyone else out there tried this? [B)]

I really don't know whether to keep my good "old" LCR or trade it for the new one.. Let's see it in the flesh. I know I'm going to like it loads. No 4wd though  (am I repeating myself?). I hope the price is sensible, 19,000 max.

Purely on the looks, nothing else out there floats my boat (Golf GTI / R32, Vauhall VXR, Focus ST, Civic Type R, Renault Megane 225). I just test drove a Focus ST and wasn't impressed.

Very nice. Much more in your face that the standard car. I think a light colour like silver or red will suit the car, as IMO if it’s black you might loose the black details on the rear bumper or that splitter.

Considering how excellent the mk2 chassis over the mk1 Leon this is going to be one cracking car to dive. :worship:

Sad person I am but I spotted that the gear knob in that pic is of a RHD car.

I think what we need is a car that you can instantly recognise as the cupra not say is that a cupra or the fr i can't tell!!!!
you know like the old one instantly you can tell it is either the cupra or the r
the engine is good but yo ould easily get that from a remap.. I will wait and see but at the mo i just don't know, with so many hot cars about at the mo i think they needed to do somthing just that bit different like seat would usually do..

i will reserve judgement untill see it in the flesh if it is anything like the new r32 which doesn't look to good in the pics but v nice in reality

Personally i think they've already done something different, no car looks as unique out on the road as the new Leon, its looks great, the Cupra is everything i expected it to be, and a worthy hot hatch in its market segment.

Im looking forward to getting mine ;)

IMHO it makes the LCR look a bit dated. It looks more agressive from the front and the kit you get even goes beyond the great package the LCR provided in its day.

I said when we saw the spy shots of the FR for the first time that if the front bumper already looked that aggressive then what on earth were they going to do with the Cupra. The answer - not a lot front wise as it already looks the business.

I think there was so much anticipation people were always going to expect some wide flared arched pimp mobile and were setting themselves up for dissapointment. Seat have to cater for the mass market and couldn't have made it too OTT.

Personally I think it looks the business and is just what I was after as well as Z.

As he says above - the basic mk 2 leon's look different enough to stand out. My mate Antman (on here) has a TFSI Sport and he says it is still a head turner. Pics never do the new Leon justice - seeing them in the flesh is sooooo much better. :)

Roll on next Friday.
