Hello all, my name is James and I purchased my Seat Ibiza 1.6 TDI CR Sport in February. I'm trying to do a little troubleshooting and if someone could help me that would be great:

My engine seems to be struggling when sitting idle. It almost sounds as though it's going to cut out. I drive 22 miles to work, and then 22 miles home from work almost every day on national roads. I can't imagine having a DPF problem considering my usage, but I do not know for sure.

I have never had a light on for any DPF issues, nor do I experience lots of smoke or loss of power. Any advice would be great.

Pleased to be here amongst fellow Seat enthusiasts! Thank you.

Sorry I can't help you.
I have a mk 5 Ibiza 1.2 Tsi Fr 5 Dr white 14 plate.bought it last year. One owner 23,000 on clock.
Also a mk 4 Ibiza 1.9 TDI sport 08 plate white 3 Dr. Bought it new.149,000 on clock. Hardly any problems with it. Still got the original clutch and turbo .
Can't let it go !!!!

I had a similar problem with a polo about 8 months ago. Engine would shudder as if about to cut out. Took it to my mechanic who thought at first it was a coil pack but ended up being the timing chain needing replaced!

Meanwhile as I try to ignore dumb postings, I think that that engine was subject to an emissions recall and as such, if that work was carried out correctly, and has become a bag of nails, then VW Group will need to sort it out for you FOCish!

Though, I know nothing about modern DERV engines, I'm just giving my thoughts on what others on other forums have been posting - and maybe even on this one?

Does that model/engine have start/stop button? Could it be the engine trying to engage this process but failing at it?

Do the rev's fluctuate at all whilst idling??

I have the same engine, the idle rpm's vary depending on what you/the car are doing:
Idle -not moving: ~750
Idle -moving: ~900
Idle -regen: ~1100

It could just be this??

Do you mean

Idle -not moving: ~750 (in neutral or clutch depressed in gear)
Idle -moving: ~900 (1st or 2nd gear + clutch up)
Idle -regen: ~1100

No, the car will always idle at 900 rpm when moving regardless of gear or clutch. I can be doing 40 and take it out if gear, it will drop to 900, or I can coast in second for the same result. It will only drop to 750 when the car is not moving.
