New Member, New 60 plate Seat Leon 1.6 Tdi, Questions on Mods for such a new car..

Hello,
I have gone through the internet with a fine tooth comb looking for help and instructions on modifications to my new Leon 1.6 tdi SE trim. I havent come across much. Is there anyone on this forum who could guide me with a few things?

alloys that i would like one the car as it is mettalic black will be black about 18 inch. with slightly lower profile tyres to keep the same size (plus sizing)

My question is; with such alloys would i need to widen the arches? With alloy and wheels how much should i be expecting to pay? at the moment ive priced these up between £460 - £560, is that about right for what i want?

Secondly, I need some guidence with regard to body kits, I would like to change the front bumper for something a bit more stylish. Not as round essentially. Now because its a new car will 05+ body kits fit? Does anyone know of some good body kits? Does anyone know of any businesses selling front bumpers on thier own, (even better) and painted?

I Think that is enough questions for now about this car. Thankyou very much for your help in advance, (Please note i have tried searching the forum for questions to my answers.) As its such a new car i cant get much info on it.

Arches shouldn't need widening for 18's although make sure your tyres don't scrub on inner lining. Price all depends on what you go for, personally I like to go OEM so for your car a set of Cupra wheels maybe?
Front bumper, you would be better off going with the new FR/Cupra bumper as the 05+ kits won't fit due to different headlights. If you go for a new bumper you will have to get it painted or have a search on ebay

MK2 leon! What i've on my 1.4tsi is a BTCC bodykit all round! (facelift version)

I've had an HID kit fitted ! Interior red footwell LED's! Interior lights changed to White led's (instead of those horrible yellow bulbs) Rear number plates changed to white leds instead of yellow bulbs!!

That'll get your Lights looking sweet!!!

What i've had done on my engine bay is only a K&N filter, and then getting it remapped soonish from P-torque! Perhaps a stage 2 if miltec get their act together!

Hope thats given you some ideas?

Thanks for the quick replies, Danny - would i have to get a 2010 FR/Cupra Front bumper? im guessing yes if the headlights have changed this year.

About the alloys i was thinking - 225/40r18 Do you think they would scrub? I guess i could go for 205/40r18 as thats 0.3percent less in diameter, and less width.

What size alloys and tyres are people running without trouble?

Does everyone agree Black alloys will look good with metallic Black? (Thinking of adding a red colour scheme to the car to break up the car) For example the Dezent Motion alloys with the red pin stripe type look. (did toy with vinyl wrapping / carbon fibre alloys)

Sniper, thats genious, How did you do it? Off the top of my head i'd get red leds (either 12v or with resistors) take bulb out and solder tabs to connections?
Or did you actually get a propper conversion?

Another Question what does everyone think about daylight running lights.

Ive got a confession, I am a biker, or was. This is my first car. Ive had street fighters all my time on the road, so ive got the bodging technique down to a fine art so any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Ill say ive got a Grand to make this car look a little special, what can we do!?

What about grill's, i saw a seat with a black grill recessed, looks as if the oem grill had been whipped out (hear its that easy - some may disagree) and a black metal grill fixed in but further back than standard, that looked smart. If i was to do this would i take out the grill and attach just the mesh, or keep the grill surround take the plastic vertical lies out then fix to grill surround. Any thoughts?

If i get this 15 post thing done....i'll upload all the pics of my car!

Footwell led's mimic the interior lights, so when i open the door the footwell leds come on etc.......i did this by taking out the centre lights and then tacking on the connection to one of the bulb connections then i hid the wiring in the roof and down the side....... then i cable tied the leds to the footwell, just out of site! to give an awesome glow!

Looks good Snipe cheers for that, Did you buy individual leds or get like them already done with resistors and diodes in a strip? Could Essentially do this for every light in the car and all lights ie number plates. Ebay here i come...

Yahhh bought um in a strip! My mate did all the wiring for me!!

Order the rear number plate lights IMMEDIATLY! haha it looks sooo fresh!

did you get actual numberplate lights for the numberplate?
Probly best to like with the angles and brightness etc, better than my idea of soldering on some LEDs haha.

What about dash lighting wonder if id have to get a special bulb for them too.

If it's the facelift version get specific bulbs with canbus cancellors in the number plate!!

Yeah dont solder on LEDS haha it'll look naff! hehe! If your local or in the midlands i can help ya out!


Hopefully that answered your question graham you need canbus cancellors in the newer models!? i got um from my supplier called BLACK I.C.E he's a audio and lighting specialist on car's! I can ask him if you like?!
