To be honest most dealers now have all got terrible customer stories i used to work for a renault specialist myself and dealing with renault was sometimes a nightmare.

Not to go off subject but without starting another tread! i was wondering if any of you can tell me is the
K1 the same spec inside/engine/bhp output etc as the cupra? is it JUST a bodykit? as i noticed the cupras are quite a bit less than a K1 spec'd Cupra,i just wanted to get that cleared up?? as i mentioned above that i may be tempted..also is the turbo on cupra/K1 the same as the ED30 golf?

2010 Leon Cupra R, Speed Blue, Tech & Cons Pack, Leather.
Feeling pretty jealours now, hope you enjoy your new cupra r when you get it.

Cheers mate. Can't wait to get my hands on it and ring it out..

I read that thread Ben. Is that on a new Megane or an older one?

New Megane mate. but i dont think you will need the stage 2+ power in the megane , its lighter than the cupra , faster in standard from peoples 0-60 times , people getting 5.8 - 5.9 som imagine a 300 bhp would see low 5's ,

It's actually from a R26R, so old one. But most of the engine is pretty much the same bar the turbo and some strengthened bit and pieces. But the old model is said to be unsafe at anything over 300bhp, so even if the new one is slightly better built i'm not not sure i'd want to be putting 360+bhp through one..

In regrads to the chasis, the Meg has it in the bag, no doubt. But stock vs stock performance I wouldn't think they'd be much in it, as the Meg and Leon are very similar when on the scales (around 1400kgs)..
I still think the Cupra has it when tuning come into play (in a straight line obviously). As map and TBE will see close to 320bhp where I think the Meg will struggle to make that power (RS Tunings software is making around 286bhp at the min on Stage 1) as turbo back exhaust aren't very effective on the earlier Megane sports and most just decat for about 10 extra bhp.

I came from an r26 megane ... the cupra is in a different league in a straight line with a map but the renault is quick through the twisties

cupra r!!! just been in one!

just thought i would share my views.

My mates dad has got one as a company car spec as follows

chrono yellow 19 inch wheels and twin exit exhaust.
Sat nav., xenons

well what can i say the noise and speed are just amazing.

It sounds amazing when you plant your right foot.
The quilted leather interior is soooooo comfy!

One other thing i loved was the dark grey roof lining just different but looked amazing.

Gloss black diffuser and seat backs.
Everything about it just looks the part!

Lets just say my fr does not feel very special now!

BUT there is always a but., would i pay £25k for one????

Probably not!

But it made me smile ALOT!!!

Finding a dealer that actually wants to sell one of these (and doesn't have the car on holiday with a staff member at the moment) is proving difficult...

I thought you were too big a fan of DSG to go back to a manual?

I've been tempted by the current offers and the fact my car is nearly 3. I will miss DSG but my car only gets used going to work these days on B roads, so the real benefits of it aren't felt like they were for the first two years of ownership (when I was doing 20k a year).

I may not change yet, but if I do it will be kept for a very long time (without any warranty DSG issues ;)).

I had a test drive in an R this afternoon from Kings SEAT in Portsmouth.

It had leather seats, some sort of multi-media pack, reversing sensors front and rear finished in Candy white.

The first opportunity to open the taps came along and as others have said what a great job SEAT have done with the induction/exhaust noise - very addictive :)

Bearing in mind the car had only a few miles on the clock and was as tight as a knats chuff it pulled really well and certainly 'felt' quicker than my bog standard Cupra.

Ride quality was still firmish but felt as if it would be more comfortable on a longer run.

Not sure if I prefer the new dash over mine but liked the funky way the speedo and rev counter span round nearly all the way round performing some sort of test

As I said to the salesman, one of the reasons the Cupra was so appealing 3 years ago was the 19k price tag - I can't see how £25K can be justified for an R.

SEAT chap said that they are surprised at the new technology VW group are building into the cars now and this is the reason for the price increase.

I said that other cars I have my eye on at the moment are an AUDI A5 or very left field, a an RS4 - I suspect that would be ruinous when buying fuel unless you get a sponsorship deal with Shell!!

Anyway, to sum up, the Cupra R is a cracking hot hatch with some neat new features inside and out but in my view life is a little too short to have effectively the same car twice and the price tag is a little steep.

Ah, so kings have an R in. I might pop in Saturday for a drive.

Went down to Hudds Seat to have a look at their yellow one. I wasn't actually that impressed with the appearance. Don't get me wrong the leather interior is a nice place to be but for the money I would want more.

My reasons for ordering one are three fold, besides the general wish to get one that is.

1. You don't pay anywhere near 25k, even when spec'd with the tech pack.
2. 0% finance available with a decent size deposit.
3. Nothing else with 3 years warranty and 5 doors gets close for the price. I can accept the argument re the Cupra, but this car will be with me for a very long time so it's personally worth the extra.

Drove one a few weeks ago at W Livingstone in Glasgow. Very impressed, agree about the exhaust/induction noise - its awesome. Plant the right foot and it sure as hell goes too (I knew the salesman, he didn't mind!) The extra bling makes it stand out from other Leon's and the interior is great although still understated which is the way I like my cars. Ride quality was great for a 265hp hot hatch. Not sure about Speed Blue but the red or white would be my choice

I enquired about a demo car at WJ King in Kent which was up for £22995, couldn't quite get the monthly payment within budget but there will be better deals in the next few months so it's worth waiting - 6 month old LCR £20k anyone?
