By the way forgot to say that overall i like the car although i'm not a great fan of these MPV family size vehicles

Nevertheless it looks nice and pratical. Like the seats system not having to be taken away to get more transportation capacity.

Nice work

Hi,
Bit naive here but if this is a mk2 are all Alhambra vehicles before this one mk1?? I have a 52 plate Alhambra and I'm struggling to find 3 replacement seat belts for it. All I kind find are mk1.
Wikipedia states Mk1 (1996-2010) & Mk2 - (2010-) but I phoned the local Seat dealer and they 'think' a '52 Alhambra is a mk2???? Help

Mk1 Alhambra got a facelift so in their mind that became a Mk2 and now this is all new so its a Mk3. Public and dealers seemed to think this is the Mk2.

Bit like how the Ibiza Mk2 got a facelift but SEAT still called it a Mk2 and everyone else called it the Mk3.

Result confusing designations.

I bet they call the next Leon the Mk4, because of the facelift :D

Are you keeping up. :) From our point of view we'll just settle on the New Alhambra. This was an older article before they had actually made up their mind.

The new bammer is not really to my liking, we had our first delivered the other day and to be honest whilst it looks nice and is crammed with a load of technical b*llocks (which with it being a seat will eventually all go catastrophicaly wrong) it lacked interior room as oppose to its predecessor (feeling more like a big car then an MPV) aswell as overall flexability (unsure if all the seats could be removed - which effectively turned the earlier version into a medium sized van) and looks similiar to a big Touran IMHO.

The chassis is a larger version of the leon, altea, toledo platform, with fully indipendent rear suspension and ours has the CAG series CR lump, which varient - i dunno?

Not a put-down opinion, maybe i'm just a slave to its older brother

So we had 2 guys from SEAT UK stop at our office for a meeting today as they have been thrashing out a deal with us for 11 months now. this is what they brought to the party:

I have to admit, I was really impressed with it. All the seats fold down flat so do not get removed (much like the galaxy) so it will still serve it's purpose. the dash is typically VW but I must admit, the build quality is exceptional. £4k roughly cheaper than the sharan and I am sold to be honest. I am hoping we do a deal with SEAT for many reason but also it would be a fantastic deal for them. We buy at least 1000 new ppl carriers every year which would be great for SEAT. Just my feelings..........

Have to agree mate, elegant does not spring to mind but functional definately. This one is the ecomotive they had and in all honesty I was genuinely impressed, nice to drive, feels solid on the road and all materials feel good under hand.

I had a test drive of a new SE Alhambra today. (140 manual)

I was pleasantly surprised. The car looks a lot better in the metal and nicely finished. Powerplant refined and smooth, the steering had a good feel to it, the handbrake-less auto-hold took a little getting used to.

The one I drove had the optional powered rear doors and tailgate pack. My Mrs would definately love the power tailgate. The foldaway action on all the rear seats is clever and easy to operate - far better than removing seats on mine. I liked the way the rear seating position has been improved over the last model by making little footwells into the floor.

The reversing camera was excellent, and the smaller new steering wheel. I liked the metallic Indium Grey paint. I was concerned that some of the roominess of the last model was being lost, but this wasn't the case.

Overall, a thumbs-up. It looks better proportioned than it's pictures suggest. I preferred the look of the front grille on the new sister Sharan, but I think I could live with the Exeo-style grille of the new Bammer. I'd definately go for the optional sports suspension.
