yes dave... 300 can be drivable and mines used as a daily car.

with the correct set up its fine.

but the journey getting to 300 is fun too. the things ive learned over 3.5 years of gradualy building the car up has allowed me to understand and enjoy the car so much more.

No need to tell the insurance about it but you could if you want.
I have told my insurance company everything, yup everything!!
They are a very cool company that realise just cause you mod your car doesn't mean you are a higher risk to insure, which is nice:)
My Front Mounted Intercooler cost about £800, dam sure I wanted that insured.
People worry too much about insurance and what it will cost. If you pick the right insurance company for the right reasons (not just cost) they will work with you.
I got a quote for getting the car remapped, to cover for 50 BHP raise in output I was only going to be an extra £100, thats fair enough in my book.

ok well im taking this as you are more than happy with the car as it is and the mods comments are more a sarky piss take of a great car :)

however if you do,
id say do this in this order:

dv (dont expect it to feel any different)
remap
dog bone mount shortly after remap
ARBs

then coilovers if got the budget.

If you are feeling flush, then add new exhuast downpipe and cat in just before the remap :) and then probably a front mount intercooler. However the exahaust and intercooler are not cheap.

oh and when pads are changed use ferrodo ds2500

My problem with the Cura R is this. Without spending large amounts of money on remaps which then would require suspension tweeks to get the power down etc etc there is nothing I can do to it. No matter how hard I try the car is virtually perfect off the forecourt.

Grrrrrrr :p

All I can think to do is change the air filter - booooring;-)

My suggestion would be to sell your car and buy something quicker :)

FECK!!!!! How do you afford that!!??? Are you 17 with 11 points and a drinking conviction?

If only! 20, 1 year NCB (only been driving a year also). Step up from my 2l MK2 Ibiza! How do I afford it? How did I afford the car :p Credit card with balance transfer 0% for 13 months, into the ol' bank account then pay in full as it's cheaper than paying insurance monthly. Hopefully this December when I have 2 years NCB aswell as the benefit of being 21, my insurance will plummet :) And yes, I have bugger all money to my name after I have paid all my bills, but I will enjoy my cars (and being broke) until I have a family and mortgage (a year from this winter is the plan). Not forgetting I'm due a pay rise and atleast one £1000 (taxed) bonus so it levels itself out. I hope :-o

Edit: Browner - I'm insured with Business Use - one place of work and the train station, so it nudged the premium up a couple of hundred. That and my Mum had a habit of reversing into stationary objects, and two years ago my Dad and I were in a head on where someone cut the corner and drove into us..so noone older to bring the insurance down..

But enough about insurance! What about smoothing the airbox?

Can I just say it's possible to give the car 300+ bhp still have a perfectly drivable, usable, every day car. I'm sure Traumapat agrees?
