hi guys, i fitted some new discs and pads to the mother in laws tdi yesterday, fs3 calipers.

never done these before, only fn3 cupra calipers...

it has a squealing noise coming from the brakes...

is this usual on these brakes, the pads has clips to push into the piston and the caliper edge...

i didnt have to copper greasre the fn3 calipers, or my porsche 4 pots..

could this be why the fs3 brakes are squealing a little.

cheers

I would take the pads out, put a bit of sand paper onto a flat surface eg. a worktop or bench and rub the pads over it to deface the surface off the pad. Brake pads these days are made up of all sorts of material as aspestos is no longer allowed including wheat and even coffee beans ! Alot of brake pads squeal but cooper grease only stops them sticking on the outside of the pad to the caliper not to the discs

I just wipe the new discs down with a bit of brake cleaner, havent had any squealing. Not sure if this is the way it should be done but this is what I did.

The runner where the caliper sits, give it a wire brushing etc with the pads off. bit of copper grease on the back of the pads. Also a bit of silicon grease on the caliper pins may help, just incase they are sticking slightly.
