Morning. So periodically after driving for a minute, I get a pop up saying ‘new settings are available for your user account’, or something similar. If I don’t apply them the message just comes back. But when I apply them it resets some of my settings, including the comfort light animation which is obvs the best thing. Recently when trying to show off to an uninterested teenager I was disappointed that the rear light animation didn’t happen..

A Google suggests this to be a VAG issue going back years. Does anyone know how to prevent it on the Terramar?

I believe there's a software update for this. I have a new Tiguan that does the same thing.

you can go into: car settings / users / user settings -> privacy settings and services -> personalization -> Deactivate. This stopped the "new settings are available for your user account" to apear daily and some of the settings are now saved pemanently -> read led animation, matrix led animation ... .

I've concluded that the "new settings are available for your user account" are being triggered by OTA software patches - it is likely that Seat/Cupra are using a 'DevOps' software deployment model where software patch updates are dumped into the production environment - i.e us lot. It is possible that the updates overwrite the saved user settings so the vehicle prompts us to go and check.

They have been messing around with the code for the Matrix headlights for example, screwing it up one day, fixing it a day or two later, a couple of days ago mine warned me when I left the car that 'my mobile phone was in the car and was on the wireless charger', there was another update yesterday and it stopped....

The annoying thing is that the patch releases don't update the software version numbers (not uncommon in IT software development though), those only get changed with major updates.

Many thanks for this. I'll try it out. Can you think of any drawbacks for turning personalisation off?

I read somewhere that the idea was to always reapply the cloud saved settings. I think the problem is that some settings are not saved in the cloud, so the car ones get overwritten. this might be usefull if you change your phone and apply settings from another phone ... these gets to the car ... not my case, nothing else observed yet.
