Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new shampoo to use, maybe something with a bit more oomph.

I currently use Autoglym Shampoo Conditioner, which is ok. I was looking at Mark V Very Cherry i think its called or dodo juice.

Just wanna try a new shampoo which works well with a mitt and bucket. Don't have a pressure washer.

What do you recommend?

Autoglym does the job, just didn't know if all the others would change the outcome? Which i guess it doesn't seeing as it gets polished with autoglym after anyway.

The Autoglym never has been all that good at lathering up, it's widely documented on DetailingWorld.

However, depending how you fill your bucket largely determines how well it suds up. I do the following which gets me more than enough suds, I'll take a picture next time I wash the car (just done it yesterday, d'oh!).

- Shove your bucket under the tap and begin filling with luke warm water
- Pour a cap full of AG into the cap and pour it into the bucket whilst still filling, then hold the cap under the tap for 5 secs or so.
- Repeat the above twice.

Sounds rather silly, but trust me, try it and you'll get more suds.

I wouldnt buy anything new until your close to the bottom of what you have... if you want to try something new then there are litterally hundreds of options out there but the ones i have tried and rate are:

1. DoDo Juice SN
2. DoDo Juice BTBM
3. Duragloss 901
4. Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II

These are in order of preference as well. Pound for pound IMO the DoDo shampoos out perform anything else i have tried. Yes, they are expensive for the size of bottle you get but they are so highly concentrated that you use very little and wash for wash work out cheaper than most others.

SN doesnt foam up as much as the others. Hardly at all to be honest but it isnt the foam / suds that remove the dirt. SN is very slick and breaks down dirt / road film easily. It also have water softeners and rinse agents added to help in hard water areas (which is why its my choice over BTBM).

Oh i didn't know its not the foam/suds that remove the dirt. Always thought it was.

I'll take your choices into account though. Thank you :)

My take on this:

1) Dodo Juice BTBM - Suds up nicely, really slippy and cleans well
2) Dodo Juice Sour Power - This is a maintenance shampoo. Use when car is regularly washed to top up protection so it last longer.
3) CarLack Shampoo - Cleans amazingly, very very very slipping. Leaves a lovely slick finish
4) Megs NXT - contains a bucket load of cleaners and water softener. Very good for hard water and the one I use when car is filthy.
5) Dodo Juice - SuperNatural. More concentrated version of BTBM. Doesnt sud up much but is slippy and does restore beading to the car if used properly.
6) CG Glosswerks - Tried this once - amazing shampoo but need more time to fully test it.
7) AG Shampoo - this currently has a new formula that suds up more. Very good shampoo but I feel there are better versions out there.

I use Meguiars NXT and have no complaints, does was it is supposed to do and doesn't seem to stop the wax from beading at all. I'm yet to try Megs Gold Class or the new one that's out (bright yellow) though so they could be better?

I use Megs Gold Class, for both TBM and also a little top up to foam in the lance bottle for maximum effect. Plenty of suds and a nice smooth finish :D

If you use right concentration which I am sure you do then it should strip wax. It can strip wax using incorrect concentration.

I use the concentration as per whatever is suggests on the bottle, with this it is supposed to be PH neutral and wax-safe so I guess that's why I've never had an issue :).
Yup - thats the most common mistake its wax safe at the right dilution ratios. :)

Its a good product and I do like it but I want to try the new Meguiars Ultimate Wash and Wax. Meant to be pretty good and a good maintenance shampoo.

Seen as we are now talking wax safe products, I can confirm from my own findings and not by reading about it on the net, that the AG shampoo doesn't strip wax at all.

My dad's A6 was detailed (and waxed with Collinite 476S) on the 26th September 2010 (Photobucket stores dates!) and is still beading beautifully today despite many washes with AG over the months.
