Don't just keep to yourselves to one shampoo.

Have at least two or 3.

One cleaning shampoo - megs nxt is good for this.
One all round shampoo - dodo born to be mild
One maintenance shampoo - glossworks or dodo sour power.

In theory you should be using maintenance one more than the others.

If cleaning the car every 2 weeks (following a snowfoaming) would using glosswerks/duragloss/sour power give good results, as the dirt isnt being allowed to build up. Really looking for a low maintenance routine, like wash every 2 weeks, wax every 6.

It's all the prep. If you detail the car right from the start and lay down a good sealant or wax then what you said will work. There is no doubt about it. You cant stop a car getting dirty when you use it but you can make the cleaning process easy. Good sealant or wax on clean paint then use of a good shampoo and your onto a winner.

thanks jonjay. Just want to avoid using strong shampoos where i can and not be in danger of stripping wax off everytime i do a wash! Perhaps will go for an allrounder like sour power

Interesting info JonJay, currently use AG Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner but my mate has just got a Poorboys one maybe Maxi Studs, think it was Purple, smelt really good and apparently lubed well, what categories would these two fall into? As im considering trying the PB one out.

AG I would classify as a cleaning shampoo. Good cleaning agents but doesnt add anything to the protection side.

PB maxi suds is an all rounder.

The PB Bodywash and Wax (Purple) is a maintenance shampoo for sure. So is PB Wash and Gloss.

This is not to say maintenance shampoos dont clean well - of course they do. However some cleaning shampoos as I call them and all round shampoos do a better job at cleaning than the maintenance ones. You can get shampoos with reactivating agents that bring back beading too!

P.S. congrats on getting your LCR!

Sour Power would be a good maintainence shampoo as it has carnuba added to it for the finish.

Have to add Zaino Z7 into the mix now as well, been using that since the last time i commented on this thread and rate it very highly. Actually seen myself using DoDo SN less since i got it.

I am starting to really dislike SN shampoo. One minute it suds well, then it doesnt. Tried all different dilution rations and never get on well with it. It cleans well on some washes, on others it doesnt...I much prefer BTBM!

You found something similar?

I havent mate... although i am only using SN from my home address and always at the same dilution - 12ml shampoo into 3 gallons of water which works out to something close to 1100:1 ratio. It works fine for me at that and i live in what i would call a medium to high water hardness area. It doesnt produce huge amounts of suds but cleans well. One thing i have noticed is that the pump head on the bottle clogs a bit so you dont always get exactly 2ml per pump. I've tried it at 4 (8ml) and 5 (10ml) pumps into the same volume of water and it didnt work well enough for me to be happy.

I think its pretty sensitive to the water hardness and the amount you use in conjunction with that... much more than other shampoos i have tried. It was always designed to be a "boutique" product though as is the rest of the SN range and was always going to be a bit more difficult to work with. There are a lot of people on DW that dont like it for those reasons and prefer BTBM or SP over it.

Maxi Suds II seemed happy with any water and at lower than recommended ratios.

Duragloss 901 was ok at lower ratios and differences in water but i just found at its optimum which was 6 caps into 3 gallons, it didnt last long enough to be a regular product.

As i mentioned before, Z7 at the moment is my favourite, it cleans really well, suds up nicely but not too much, is slick on the paint and also leaves a really nice finish adding gloss back to the paint.
