Sometimes things are not really clear on the manual. My coming home function I have to set the high beams and then get out of the car.

I read somewhere else for a passat where there is a parking functions light if you park somewhere dark so people que see you you leave the side light switch to the side where you want to light the car and both the daylight from front and back will turn on supposedly in a low voltage mode to save energy.

I've tried the parking light thing when I had to leave the car parked in a dodgy spot at work, but it didn't work.
I managed to get mine to work by accident, lights in auto and I'd left indicator stalk down, got out to fetch chinese, and after headlights went off realised sidelight for that side was on.
Cruise control - if you have cruise on and change gear, it doesn't switch off ......

I'll try it that way round next time, got a feeling I'd already turned the ignition off when I pushed the indicator stalk now I think about it. It probably has to be up or down before switch off. Our work car park is a nightmare as they've marked out spaces where there really should be any which minimise manoeuvering room, but sometimes the dodgy ones are all that's left!

You can fit a 7ft Christmas tree in without too much trouble, lay on its side of course.[B)]

Unless you plumped for the sunroof!

I suggested we used my leon to get the tree last weekend, and we could drive home with it poking out the sunroof....for some reason my wife and daughter requested we use her saab with the roof rack, rather than drive home with a bloody great hole in the roof and pine needles dropping everywhere.
cissies.

Not sure if it would be road legal to drive with the tree stuck out of the roof, I suppose it depends how tall the tree was.

Apart from which your Xmas tree would lose some of its splendour!

Reminds me, one of my favourite films was on last week, the wife was out and I managed to watch all of it. - National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, pure slapstick genious.

the number of times I've driven round with stuff out the rear windows because I hadn't planned on buying lengths of wood etc.....or back from Ikea with a 5' bed tied to the roof.
I remember carrying a washing machine on the fold-down boot lid of an old mini once.
Simple times...

Yeah, at first I tried obviously inside the car but nothing. One time parking at the supermarket left the turn indicator, took out the key and magic haha. That's not on the manual.

My Leon doesn't have auto lights so I have to flash de high beams to turn on coming home. At first I was wondering why it didn't work if in the car menu it said 30 seconds! Read the manual both English and Spanish and they need to make it more simple.

I'm not impressed with the hill assist.
compared with the mercedes one it isn't as good.
But the merc was an auto with that stupid foot-operated parking brake, and I guess otherwise a bitch to hill start...

If it is anything like the Ibiza hill assist you need to force activate it.

Push a little harder on the brake pedal before you move to the throttle pedal.
always worked properly when done that way.

Tried it this morning for the first time as follows, park car, put indicator stalk to off, switch off car, remove key, put stalk either up or down (depending on what side of car you want) and a warning will be heard, and "parking light on" shows on mini screen, leave car and lock and parking light is on. Doesn't matter if light control is at auto or off.:D
