Picked up a 2nd hand 25 plate VZ2 333 bhp in graphene grey - happy so far, I had a 2016 M240i before, the interior is far superior as in the info system, it is just a nicer place to sit, way more room for the kids. It does feel a little slow, but handles well.

Gave it a full detail, clay bar, light machine polish and sealed and its looking much better, still a few swirls but nothing major, I tend to give my cars a polish yearly so will go with a higher cut next year.r

A few questions:

Can you turn off the speed warning and lane assist permanently? I know it only takes a few seconds but its kinda annoying!
Can you turn off the wireless charger? It doesn't really work that well but is a good place to store my phone!

Service wise:

Oil every 12 months 10k miles
DSG - 5 years or 40k miles
Haldex - 3 years or 30k miles
Plugs every 2 years

Is the above about right?

It has a timing chain so is that every 100k miles?

Can anyone recommend a good indy that has the tech to update the online system based around the York area? I got the car from Oldham, there is a Cupra garage is York but always prfer to use a good Indy

Hi mate, congrats on your new car.

I don't believe you can turn off the Lane Assist or speed warning permanently (Yet - something is coming i believe) but are you aware you can access and turn them off quickly. Press the ADAS button on the left hand side of the wheel and the 'options' appear on the left hand side of the screen - use the right hand thumb wheel to select what you want to deactivate and press the thumb wheel to toggle off.

On SFD2 you can't permanently turn off the Lane Assist, but it worked fr the Speed Warning using OBD11 quick-Apps.
There's an option in the infotainment menu to switch off the wireless charger. I can't remember the path from the top of my head, but look carefully - it's there.

Congratulations! Nice colour.

A bit slow? Put it into Cupra mode and it least it will SOUND faster.

What products do you use for sealing? Being old I've always polished & waxed, but I'm starting to wonder about ceramic sealants.

Hi trew

I have had some Gyeon Cancoat Evo delivered today, primarily for the MR2 (white). Never used a Ceramic (Cancoat is a beginners version). I will let you know how I get on in the Car Care section once I've tried it.

Hi,

Its not really slow, but my M240i was running around 450bhp so when you put your foot down it went very fast, the Cupra just lacks that instant power, but its still a better all around car.

This time I used a Koch Chemie S0.02 spray - it did a pretty decent job, you can do the full car in maybe 10 mins, just spray onto a cloth and wipe the car, then wipe off. The key is the prep, a decent de-contamination and a machine polish helps alot. The new spray sealants are so quick compared to a normal wax and should last 3-6 months.

A full ceramic is the way forward but does have a high ££ and you need to leave the car with them for a few days, and I need it every day.

I was quoted £650 ish for a 2 year 'Wax is Dead' Ceramic, on a Formentor and 2 to 3 days to apply.

That wasn't a stock M240i then?

Thanks for the information about your spray-on sealant.

No it was running a stage 1 map, so nothing huge, but it was a 3L straight six, so its going to be quick.

The spray sealants are nice, loads of good ones around, Meguirs Hybrid wax is good, Siramik Graphene is maybe the best but the bottles go off way to quick so personally wont buy it again, plus they are so quick and easy. Also, use a clay mitt not a barr, less chance to mark the paint and so much quicker.

not a bad price for that ceramic, its just the 2-3 days without a car I would struggle with

I bought a bottle of Autoglym Ceramic Spray yesterday. I'd washed & polished the car the day before, so I've applied the spray to 3 panels as a test. Now I'm praying for rain today so I can see if there's any discernable difference in the beading between the spray and the polish.
