new water pump

hi people,
this might sound like a daft question but i have no idea,iv just recieved my metal impeller water pump for mrk 1 leon 1.8t ,just wondering if it should have a gasket with it,iv asked where i purchaced it from and they said we dont sell seperatly only with the waterpump,i said you didnt give me that option,so he said it might not need one is this correct?

This one has a gasket so I would say yes you need one?

Changed mine the other week for a metal impellor pump as the plastic one exploded, there was no gasket on the old one i took off and no gasket on the new one, it just has a rubber seal around the portion that go's into the engine block to seal the coolant in.

No gasket - as said - the pump has an integral rubber seal.

yeah theres a rubber ring on it,so shud be fine then,even tho iv just got sum instant gasket silicon stuff just incase,nevermind sure it will come in handy for something
