I want to put a Pioneer DEH-P700BT headunit in my Ibiza, and I have a list of all the things I think I need. Looking at this thread, I've come up with the following from CarAudioDirect:

The HU itself
A pioneer radio interface
Stalk control adaptor
Aerial adaptor
Powered aerial thingy - there's a couple of these available, but I think this is the right one.
Seat wiring adaptor - I think this swaps the red/yellow wires. Is this easy to do without the adaptor?

So am I missing anything here? I asked CarAudioDirect and they wanted to know what wiring block the car has - I have no idea to be honest so I can't really tell them! Is there anything I don't really need?

Cheers!

Out of all those, you wont need the Seat wiring adapter for swapping the red and yellow wires you can just cut the wires and use bullet connecters to rejoin the 2 wires, this is only needed to be done so that the HU stores your settings, i.e bass, treble etc

Or if you have a play and work it out, you can take the wires out of the connector itself and swap them, thats how I did it!

If you're getting that HU, the Pioneer wiring harness has breakoff connections (male socket > female socket) on the red and yellow wire for just that so you dont need the last wiring adaptor. I have found on mine i needed to swap it over when i didnt use a wired remote harness.

If you are indeed using a remote harness, check the wiring there as they might have swapped that for you.

These pics maybe of use to you

You can make out in the background the yellow "acc" wire with the break off connection and female spade connecter i assume for external amps, etc.

Thanks - those pics will come in handy! BTW, where did you postion your mic for handsfree?

I was thinking of just running it into the shelf below and securing it in the top corner somehow - might be a bit far away, I'll give it a go though.

Well, the order's going in, so I'll post some pics when I'm done.

Usually you would run the microphone upto the A pillar, might get a bit too much engine/road noise by doing it into the tray, I had that problem with a head unit that had a microphone built in... my mate rang me when I was on the motorway, and couldn't hear one word i said! Bit pointless :p

the mic wire that came with mine was pretty long and managed to feed it behind the glove box, up the A-pillar on left, along the roof lining and clipped in top right corner. Everyone hears me clearly

Thanks both - I'd like to mount at the top of the A pillar, or even by the vanity light, but I'm not sure about how. Would I need to remove the glovebox to route the wire though to the A pillar? How easy is it to prise the the roof lining open?

I've seen the threads on here about removing the glovebox and A pillar & that seems OK.

I fed the mic cable for my Becker through the back of the dash and out where the fuse box is before tucking it in the A pillar.

just tuck the wire into the lining no need to rip it off...but around the vanity light area you will need to fiddle around a bit as there seems to be 2 screw points. i also put some sound deadener to prevent the rattling noise caused by the sub

Well, I finally got the HU :)

I just wanted to check my wiring before I switch everything on. If you guys don't mind having a look, I've got a picture here.

There are just a few things I'm unsure of:

1. The wire labelled (1) in the pic - I'm guessing this should be connected to wire (2), coming from the HU? The manual says "connect it to the antenna booster power supply terminal" and "never connect it to the power terminal of the auto antenna". Seems contradictory to me?

2. My stalk control adapter only seems to have two wires (the red/yellow ones at 3 & 6) connecting it to the car. This doesn't seem right to me - there are four wires at (4) that aren't connected to anything.

3. Also on the stalk adapter are two black wires (5) that aren't connected to anything. Are these supposed to be grounded or something?

Cheers for the help!
Mike

the aerial booster wire connents to the blue wire on the Hu, i used the female spade connector, just jammed it in from what i remember.

(4) if you read the manual its a chip for the control unit specific for the car model, puzzled me at first too
(5) no clue

did you get it working? i gave up and used something else in the end

have you swapped around the mute wire to by pass the handbrake thing?

TBH I've never heard of this - what does it do?

Heh, that'll do me!

Yeah, the stalk adapter didn't come with a manual - maybe that's the problem! I haven't tried it yet, will probably give it a go tomorrow. Can you remember what you used instead?

yeah, Connects2 unit shown on that thread you linked on the first post, pics of it i linked a couple of threads on here

Can you remember what you used instead?

Sorry, that was a dumb question - I hadn't noticed you were the same person as above!

I'll try the Celsus adapter tonight - if it doesn't work I'll swap it for the Connects2 one.

Well, that was hard work - got it in though :D

The stalk adaptor didn't work, so I'll be getting a Connects2 one instead.

Thanks for the help everyone.
