Hi newbie here, I picked up my new ibiza cupra on Thursday from Tin and drove from yorkshire to london to get it so it was a fair trek.

First impressions were'nt too good to be honest, it felt slow in compaison to the car i had just sold(106 Rallye with 16v conversion running 157bhp) so i was a little gutted. Anyway i came to terms with and and started to enjoy driving her them ppppssssshhhhhhh the car had lost boost and all i was getting was a big hiss from down where i could only guess was around the turbo, no problem i thought its either a pipe has come off or one of the pipes have split. I pulled over to have a look and found that it was the pipe that connects the I/C pipe( the one that comes from the drivers side and over the top of the engine to the turbo) was lose so i tightened it and thought it was an easy fix.

I got home fine and the car now felt more impressive so i thought the cause of the lack of performance was down to it slowly leaking due to a poor connection. I got in the car this morning and after 15miles ish it popped again so i part fixed it and nursed it home. I got the spanners out and started to take off the I/C hard pipe to see what was going on and i found that the samco that connected to the top of the wastegate( i think:headhurt: ) was too large in diameter as per pic below:

And heres the samco that joins the I/C to the wastegate:

As you can see its a reducer style hose but it just dont reduce enough, the I/C pipe is about 3" and the wastegate is about 2". The samco is 3" and 2.5" so it 0.5" too big.

Now my question is, Can you buy the pipe i need or is there some other pipe i need? the I/C is a A + M motorsport item by the way.

Thanks

Lee

from wat it looks like, uve got a k03s turbo on there, the k03s with silencer has a smaller neck to the stardard to a non silenced one, ive just fitted the very same turbo, looks like the who ever u got it off has fitted a piece of aftermarket hose, most probably the wrong size, im currently using the standard oem pipe that was on it, but ive changed the sping clip that holds it on, and used a proper hose clamp and tightened it down really tight, i mean ive only had it on for less than 100 miles and its still running in, but ive had to 5-6k in a couple of gears and it aint come off yet. if it does might use 2 hose clamps for the time being as ive spoke to forge about it and they will be making a high temp one up for both k03s silenced and unsilenced .... hope this helps, i would say go and get a standard pipe from the dealer for the time being and use some good hose clamps, also if u got the heat cover that fits round there is to put it on:)

Yes it has got the K03s turbo on there, will the oem pipe fit on to my 3" I/C hard pipe or are the standard pipes smaller than 3"?

This is how i bought the car so im just learning about the 20vt engine, which pipe would i have to order from the dealer, a K03s pipe or the standard K03 pipe????

Cheers for the advice and keep it coming.

Yes but forge dont do any that are the right size for the neck of a silenced k03/k03s soo you are going to have the same problem, unless u can get one some where else:p

well going in mm.... the k03s with silencer is like 46-47 mm, and the standard pipe charge pipe that goes over the engine is like 54mm:)

but he doesn't have a stock charge pipe

so 46-47mm... to 75? Need an accurate measurement of that I think

Yep:p ... Well forge are making me one but its gonna be like a month or so maybe longer, but thats 46-47 to 54-55 .... i think

I think i should be able to get a pipe for it pretty easy i just basicly wanted to know what everyone else was using.

Another thing is that since the pipe first came off i have only been able to peak 15psi were as before it was peaking at 20psi. Will this be due to the dodgy pipe or is this the start of a fault MAF????

As per our PM discussion you will need a generic Samco Straight Reducer 2.5" - 2" avvailable at most samco outlets i.e. demon tweeks, Merlin Motorsport etc and are carried in stock due to being generic. Becuase you have a silencer you will need to trim about 2-3"'s off the bottom of the hose with a stanley knife to ensure good fittment. Might be worth buying a new high quality clamp too as they tend to get very hot and loosen above the turbo if cheap (good ones wont)

The clamp on there was a decent one, so providing it looks ok, it will do the job. needs to be very very tight though :)

which pipe did you go for? did you measure the 2 pipes?
