Close to home (luckily) lost all drive when putting foot down in 2nd with an aweful grinding sound.
This noise was happening in gear (no drive atall) and out of gear.
Got my mate a tow me home and took a quick look from there. Looks like the allen bolts holding the shadft into the box have sheared![:@] The shaft has just dropped down and causing the aweful grinding.
Make my xmas and tell me this might be an easier fix than a new box?
Not sure of the damage this may have caused internally?

depends why the bolts have come apart from the output of thebox really...

if they've just come undo, it's easy - if they buggered the thread up on the way out, it's rebuild time

Had a replacement box fitted about 18months ago. I can only imagine installation wasn't 100%. Suppose it's going to have to wait till boxing day now until I can see for sure if they have all sheared. Bummer.

not tightened up correctly (too much or too loose)

hope its has'nt chewed the flange face/threads

Got all the bolts out of the flange. One was definately crossthreaded and wound in. Got some replacements coming tomorrow morning.
Hopefully there's no more damage internally. All looks ok from what I can see outside.
