Hello I really need some help please

my car won’t start for some reason, took the car to the garage, I’ve been told the fuel can’t get into the engine, then we tested and repaired fuel pump and 4 injectors they are all fine now without any problem, however, the car still won’t start, but if you put some easy start gas into the air intake, then the car start perfectly, just the fuel can’t get into the engine. The garage man told me this could be some broken wires or maybe the ECU problem.

I am actually selling the car on ebay now, because I think this could be an expensive job to fix or replace the ECU, but then some one on ebay told me he had the samething before here is what he said

"this happened 2 me!!unscrew the fuse box on the drivers side dashboard.. look behind it and look at the bulkhead, dont know what there called, but take the numbers off the square things and go to a seat / vw/audi breakers.. think it was 461"

I am really confused now, shall I keep the car or sell the car, cos it might be just a simple cheap fix, anyone can help?? thanks in advance!

What engine, non-PD (90 or 110 bhp) or PD (130, 150, 170)? Very different fuel systems.

hello mate it's a v reg so non PD one 90bhp thx I think it's the fuel pump replay behind the fuse box, the garage will check this for me anyway, so fingers crossed

Ah, you have a Mk.1 Toledo. Yes, TDI 90 is likely - does the badge on the boot have a red I or is it all silver? Red I would indicate TDI 110, although some people swap the badges over.

As far as I know, TDI 90 and 110 engines only have one fuel pump, which is the injector pump, the big one in front of the engine driven by the toothed belt and feeding fuel through four steel pipes to the injectors. This is mechanically driven and there is no relay associated with it. I had a TDI 90 in a Mk.2 Ibiza before I bought the Toledo II with a TDI 110 in it.

What fuel pump is it that you've already repaire (in post 1 above)? What did you do to repair the fuel pump and injectors?

The first thing I would look at is your fuel filter, if fuel really isn't getting to the engine. How was that tested, by the way? The usual method is to loosen off an injector connection then crank the motor and see if fuel come out.

If not the filter, check the tank for a blockage of the pickup pipe.
