Hi iv got a problem with the cars heating. I'm not getting any heat from it unless i'm doing around 60-70 but as soon as I slow down it blows cold air. Can anyone give me ideas to look at to solve this issue oh yeh 16v with ac
Sounds like its only just pushing the coolant round the system when the engine is doing decent revs, which would only be noticeable at prolonged higher revs, such as 60/70 on a suitable road.
Maybe thermostat is stuck open, and unles the engine is worked hard, the coolant does not keep the heat long enough to get round to the heater matrix, as it would get cooled by the radiator 1st.
aLso when I'm at 60-70 for meat driving the temp gage goes to the three quaters mark and can go in to the red. When that happens I have go easy for a few mins until it cools down
MI'M not using any water or shall I say it's not needed topping up and don't u normally get smoke with a gasket leek also just to say onece iv gone into the red and let the temp cool to normal( halfway) it does not seem to overheat anymore
well best way to check if its head gasket is by checking oil cap if its creamy it has gone and if the exhuast is chuckin out loads of steam thats a possilbity that its on it way out

Well it seems teeth got rid of it and passed the issue on to me. Joy. Let's hope it isn't the head gasket.
I just ran the car for 5 mins with the expansion lid off and I was struggling to find any water in there. Can I just top it up with tap water or does it need to be special stuff ?
