No remote Locking or Unlocking

Help,
my remote key has stopped working.The red light flashes when either the lock or unlock button is pressed.
I have changed the battery but it still does not work.
Is it worthwile getting a flip key as in the FAQ's or will I still have the same problem?
The car is an 05 reg.

have you tried reprogramming it? same as it says in the first post of the flip key thread?

Thanks for the replies lads.
I have tried reprogramming using the 2nd non remote key and checked all of the fuses but no joy.
Any more ideas?

nah, anyone with vag com can do the remote part its only the immob bit that requires some "extra" knowledge

Ok,I have had a few replies.
Is that it then,it has to go to the stealers to have it sorted?
Anybody else got any ideas?

if the car was a second hand one it could have had extra keys paired to it and filled up all of the memory locations for keys, or you could have filled them up with 3 or 4 failed attempts with one key

if you get a problem like yours you need to delete all keys in the memory and start again

this will be a dealer job or you can do it yourself if you have the vag-com software and a lead to plug into the car

if you go to a dealer don't forget to give them your spare key too

they can be erased with out using vag com too, but i cant remeber how
