no start

hi all i dont get to drive my leon much but the wife drives the car every day the other day was really cold and the wife said that when she went to start the car note happend about 3 times now i no you should never trust a women to tell you about cars but i did and said i no the battery was not the best so off i went and got a new battery now all was ok till the other day i went out to move the car and when i turned the key note the dash lights are all on ok but no start after turning the key like a mad man it just went anyone got any ideas of why it wont start

Does it turn over but fail to catch? If so, is it accompanied by a brief whining noise when it eventually starts?

Check the starter exciter wire, it's the plug on the solenoid in the starter, it's a single wire that's prone to breaking just by the starter.

When I had a similar problem it turned out to be corroded contacts between the solenoid and the starter motor itself.
