i'm coming at this from having steering that made no real noise (other than what you'd expect) until a few weeks back. since then when i'm parking (so very low speeds) the steering doesn't sound too healthy at either end of the lock, i reckon it starts when i'm in the last 3/4 of each lock if that makes sense i.e. it's not at full lock. difficult to describe the noise tbh but i know it didn't do it at first.

i think it maybe started after heavy rain, road out of work was slightly flooded and although i drove through it slowly i'm wondering if dirt might have got into the steering, is this possible?

it's booked in for 1st service next week, i'll ask them to check it. any ideas what it might be?

On the Mk5 Golf and Octavia 2 there were some issues with the torque loading of the motor. A quick check in MBV 80 will tell the age of the rack and if the problem is confirmed he rack can be replaced.

However I would like to state this may not be the case with the Leon, and it may not be your fault so just ask them to take a look at its first service.

top mounts?
funnily enough mine has just started doing this :(
but its not on the pump or belt because on full lock holding the wheel there is no whine or squeal its only the last part of the turn which makes the noise.
