Non mp3 Alana Headunit iPhone 3GS connectivity & charging

Hey all,

I've had a change of heart recently, and so can't vouch for spending big £££ on my car audio system.

Now, all I'm looking for, is the ability to PLAY songs from my iPhone 3gs AND CHARGE it at the same time. It also needs to have some form of iPhone Dock, so I can dash-mount it and see it from the drivers seat for Sat-nav etc. I believe a lot of units don't charge the 3gs?
I'm not fussed on additional features.


I was going to get a Dension Gateway/Gateway lite, but it's about £100, and was wondering what other cheaper options there are?

I do NOT have the Alana mp3 version, it's the earlier one. I also don't have the aux input, but I assume I have the cd-changer connection free.

Well I've found very little conclusive help online, some say additional adapters are required etc which then works out at about £100 anyway, which is the same as the Dension Gateway Lite or a new headunit.

Are there any HUs out there that are a VERY close match to OEM styling/lighting except the very expensive Blaupunkt units?

ctastipod003 if yours is pre 05 and you dont have cd changer wiring from factory
then purchase ctipod-converter to allow charging function

both are connects 2 parts
