Any help or suggestions welcomed

My car had developed a fault resulting in it being unable to start, when ignition is on i get the following lights up on dash - battery, handbrake, tcs, abs, water and oil. However the epc or engine management light don't show.

Car turns over fine but does not fire up. Any one else had this issue??

01314 - Engine Control Module

01314 - Engine Control Module: No Communications

Possible Causes
CAN-Databus Wiring/Connectors from/to Engine Control Module faulty
Fault(s) stored in Engine Control Module
Possible Solutions
Check CAN-Databus Wiring/Connectors from/to Engine Control Module
Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
Usually Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) 125+ show the current Communication Status

01314 - Engine Control Module: Check DTC Memory
Possible Causes
Fault(s) stored in Engine Control Module
Possible Solutions
Check Engine Control Module for Fault Codes

Special Notes
Engine Control Module stored a Code which influences other Control Modules Functionality.
To clear this Fault Code you will need to correct the Problem in the Engine Control Module first.

I had this code the other day in my breaking system scan and it was to tell me I had a fault code stored in the normal DTC scan bit.....if yours won't actually start tho and you have no other codes perhaps you have a fault with your ECM.

Could this possibly be a fried ecu? also is it a common fault?

It's kind of puzzling really because it started 3 days ago and was intermittent but now both lights (epc+eml) on dash refuse to light up!

a long shot but tried disconnecting the battery and allowing the ecu to soft-reset?

Thanks Brad1, will leave neg off for a good while, iirc does the throttle body make a whirring sound or something once battery is reconnected?

fingers crossed this works tomorrow :)

No worries mate, I wouldnt know about the whirring sound, i own a tractor :)

Update!!!!!

Well here goes, removed scuttle panel, wipers etc this morning to gain access to ecu, took both plugs out and the ecu (where pins are) was absolutely soaked.

Then i dried it out but on closer inspection i found a pin had broken off the ecu (due to the water residue and rust i presume). Turns out this pin was 12v live feed to the ecu, so as a temp fix i found a little bit of wire and inserted into plug (in place of broken pin), leaving a little bit sticking out so it makes contact to ecu, and hooray car starts!!

So just wondering now if anyone knows if this can be fixed permanently? or would i just be better off buying a second hand ecu?
