I'm after a new set of plates, i've noticed a few brand new cars driving about with what i can only describe as a rainbow tint to the number plates, as in when the light hits them you can see loads of colors. Anyone know what they are called or where i can order a set online?

i think these are lease company plates mate. just depends where u get them made. we have lease company plates at work and they are totally different to the ones that i can make.

Yeh I've a few of the lease companys using these type of plates, unlike normal plates where the clear plastic is stuck over the lettering, the lease company type are a black plastic backing with the letter sheet stuck onto that.

I know which ones you mean beaker, just my description leaves a bit to be desired, lol.

I don't mean the background behind the letters is black, just the plastic it is stuck to.
The background behind the letters is still white or yellow, with the petrol effect on the plates.

If you look at yours they'll most likely have the background (yellow/white) with the letters/numbers printed on stuck behind a clear perspex sheet.

The petrol effect ones have the background with the letters etc printed on stuck in front of the perspex sheet (which is black as it doesn't need to be seen through)

Hope i've described it a bit better.

there nothin special just the type lease companies use. depends where u get them made. people like lease plan have them.

Just to clarify i'm pretty sure they arnt lease plates. The only cars i've seen with them are very standard looking brand new 07 plate cars that look like they've just driven off the fourecourt (ie brand spanking new). Will get some pics when i see one next.

thts wat we mean by lease cars mate. companies who buy say 200 cars from a dealer and lease them to ppl or companies but supply the dealer with their plates for when the dealer PDI's them. most of them will be 3 years old or newer, coz lease companies normally get rid after 3 years ish.
